DAY AFTER SPRAYING FOR MITES, CLONES LOOK TERRIBLE! SEE PICS!

As embarrased as I am.. here it goes.. lol
Realized my 4 little Gorilla Glue ladies had spider mites yesterday. I know what they are. I battled with them years ago. So I did what I used to do years ago. I sprayed the under sides of leaves with dish soap and water... now.. the kicker. Years ago I used Palmolive. Cheap stuff. Now I'm a family man and apparently Dawn is the soap we have to use! Not blaming my wife hehehe.. anyways. This morning I checked on them and they really bad. Suffering. Did some research on here and saw Dawn is bad stuff.. it's a detergent.. I've bought some Bug B Gon but obviously wont spray again till they bounce back.


CCan anyone see the pics and give me some positive news here? I'm hoping they grow out of this.. even if it stunts them a few weeks. It's not warm enough for them to go outside yet anyways. Should I wash them in water? Or just leave them and wait and pray? The light is an Aerogarden. Just temporary until they do full sun. Thanks for the help.

They should bounce back, use a foliar distilled water spray to rinse all the soap off. If they are not making trichromes yet try 50/50 iso and distilled water. That will get the bugs but you also need to kill eggs. I use Smite and have luck alternating the two every 4 days until they are gone.
I was told that they cannot lay eggs if it is windy so I now keep a stiff breeze on my plants and it does help control them. Also get temps lights out down around 70. There is a reason we call them “The Borg” . I bombed , froze, bleached And power washed my rooms after a bad infestation of 20 - 7’ GG4’s. Made me give up growing for a year. This is second run since I started back up and the little bastards are still present. For the most part I have them controlled, have not gotten any webbing but it’s a twice a week battle with foliar treatments. I had one Crawl head first into my 100x lens, scary monsters that if they were the size of a cat would rule the world!

Lol.. thanks for the response. I saw them this morning and almost started crying. The pics dont make them look as bad as in oerson but.. I appreciate the good news. I have a fan on them. Temp in room isnt high. Years ago before kids and all that I had a really nice set up.. bleached and disinfected in between every crop. Used Neem oil back then but cant find any now..

Whoa.. sorry. Jeez. I'm not worried about how to kill them.. I just messed up and used the wrong soap. Was just looking for advice on how bad they looked? Didnt mean to offend you Lightgreen2K

How often should I mist? Once a day? Every other day? For how long? I'm kinda freaking out cause they look worse than 4hrs ago when the light went on... I'm starting some new seeds as backup but I really wanted these to workout.

You must have mixed it too strong. I use Dawn as a surfactant when mixing neem oil spray solution. I've never had any issue with it harming my plants.

Most likely yeah. I've read Palmolive is better cause its cheap weak stuff..

i use whatever dishsoap is in my cabnit. Dawn has never been a problem for me but i mix it with neem.....4 or 5 drops a gallon topps.

Man I fucked up lol.. I just hope they'll bounce back..

if you used soap only then wash the leaves off an they will recover .....will be ugly but they will recover.

i would wash the whole plant off minus the soil ....the soil will fix itself. not just misting heavy , i mean put her under the kitchen sprayer an lightly spray um down thouroghly.

I would shower them and throw the medium in case it dripped into there and replant in fresh. Never been in that situation so don't follow my advice

Every 4 days lift leafs from bottom up remove most spotted leafs throw them immediately in a bucket of alcohol and water. spray undersides first, that’s where they spend their lives And lay their eggs (small white/silver balls). Then mist tops mainly at base of leafs don’t over do the tops. I do it in room light and let dry before putting back into room/ tent. While it’s out you can use the water/alchohol to spray your room down. Repeat in 3-4 days with Smite ( can use into flowering as it’s natural oils). This is also a good practice weekly after they seem to be gone.

Done.. thank christ for this site. I've never done that ever.. lol. I couldn't believe the soap suds coming off them. I feel like a moron but fingers crossed

Yes letting them dry in window sill with fan before returning to light. Its overcast day here so no sun coming in.

Thanks for the help everybody! I'll give them a week to see if they show some sign of recovery. They look even worse now than last night. Hope it's not too late.

they ARE going to look a bit worse before looking better but when you seen all them suds , you probaly got rid of the main problem. (im guessing your leaf stomatas were clogged with soap. )
Now ,onto your soil. hopefully it didnt get too saturated or it will take too long to dry out. At this point , you need them to be drinking as fast as possible so they grow outta that mess. If you can get them to drink the soil in 2-4 days like normal then they will recover quickly!

I wont water them till they pots are lighter for sure. Last question brother... I got some Bug B Gon.. insecticide spray.. doesnt say soap or anything.. few weeks from now if the mites return, which I'm sure they will.. should I dilute the spray with water? Or shoot full strength. I was gonna order neem but with the world all fucked up amazon takes over a month to deliver now. So I went to a garden center down the road and got the Bug B Gon..
