Dayton Blower Wiring Question

Hi Everyone: I'm currently setting up my first grow. I'm copying this cab from the DIY section. Anyways, I just got a Dayton Blower in the mail and it doesn't seem to be working. It just hums but the fan doesn't move. I just want to be sure I have the wiring right before I contact the seller. I'm trying to power the blower with an extension cord that I've cut open. The extension cord has a black wire, white wire, and a green wire. There are two black wires in the electrical housing box of the blower and there is a ground wire coming from the motor that is screwed to the frame. I connected one of the black wires from the blower to the white extension cord wire and I connected the other black blower wire to the black extension cord wire. I didn't do anything with the ground. When I plugged the extension cord in, the motor just makes a buzzing sound; it doesn't spin. I also tried connecting the extension cord ground wire to the frame of the blower and the same thing happened. Am I doing something wrong?

Hey Jamesss...it sounds to me like the motor is single phasing or possibly bound. Are you sure you have the right voltage? Does the blower spin freely? If your sure of these things and they are correct, I'd contact the seller.

By the way, make sure you HOOK UP YOUR GROUND WIRE! There is to many other ways to destroy a crop. An electrical fire is the least fun of them all.;)
