Defeated by mice

Planted first seed very shallow in soil like everyone says. Came up screwy, turns out "wet soil" works better. Used Scotts potting soil in the black bag. How bad could it be, until I pull trigger on FFOH I thought. Bad, seedlings came up purple and puny. Baby plant eaten by mouse in upper motor-home cabinet. Didn't notice the perfect hole used for electrical wires. Didn't eat the one right next to it so got it going a bit then wanted to utilise my FFOH, 7 gallon smart pots and Mykos root enhancer. It was 100 for a month and I'm off grid with no water. Gave the pot a half gallon and it just got nuked by the sun. 5 gallon bucket seems like the thing for me. The soil was very dry as I would think I got the California vintage, water just bounces off. Glad I wasn't getting ambitious with a gorilla grow in the west. Had a seedling going ok in FFOH on the dashboard. where it was eaten by mouse. Guess I'll just use a table outside where it will get smashed by the wind in no time.

Build a cage around them, or use a mouse cage and put them inside. For water grab a plastic water bottle(or two) and poke a few holes in the bottom then set it in the pot for a slow-release water supply. You may have to experiment with more or fewer holes, or putting a hole at the top to let air in, to get it to release the water at the desired rate over the desired span of time.

Beautiful picture by the way.
