I forget but what size is your room, because 72 5 gallon pots just wouldn't comfortably fit in my 12x24 room considering how big plants get in 5 gallon pots. And I thought we had roughly the same size room if I remember correctly. It would for sure be tight.

The most I could see you watering even with the 72 plants is 72 gallons. If you had less plants then the 5 gallon pots might consume more water but you can only fit so much plant mass in a room of a given size.

I dislike the idea of buying a 110 pint because even if you added a second one of same size later you wouldn't have enough if the calculation is right.

If I was gonna buy a smaller one it would be the 155 so when you bought a second one you would have 310. Which should def get it done. Im not sure but I believe the 155 is their most efficient unit anyways.

i had planed on doing a short veg and using the larger pots so i wasnt restricted by root growth at any point in time i think i had figured out that i had around 21" of canopy space for the plants. if i need to go down in pot size or plant amount i will but this is all subject to change as it works way differently in my head as it does in real life. my grow area will be 11x22 and more realistically only 10x20 will be for plants. i appreciate all the information. as this is all a learning experience for me. i think ill stick with 2 floor units and the overhead. and maybe i can reduce my pot size with this information.

Your not an idiot but divide the number in half since it's every other day. And I find 20% run off to be a waste, I did that when first started as well. 10% percent run off works just fine.

Hell I sometimes go quite a while without run off but I don't recommend it til you really dial your feeds.

In fact you might want to get advice from @Renfro on pot size as well. I honestly can't grow in soil very well. And I'm not certain about promix but I think it's similar to soil and those guys generally run larger pots than I do.

I run a mix of coco, coco loco and perilite. It's just the mix I've landed on over the years and I've tried different things like straight coco or straight coco loco, but always end up going back to this mix because I have such great results from it. I originally was growing in small tents and when I went to reload one I had some coco loco setting around cause I used it for mothers, so I used it with some coco, didn't feel as airy as I wanted so added some perilite. I noticed in that crop that during transplants that I wasn't stalling out as hard as my plants do in a coco/perilite mix therefore cutting about a week off my veg and just overall healthier plants going into flower. I still water like I did in coco/perilite mix.

Sorry for not thinking about what medium before giving advice. I would say I been smoking too much but that's not even a good excuse been too busy for much of that either. Lol.
