Im thinking about buying a Food Dehydrator to make some Beef Jerky, and was thinking it would b good to do my Bus with aswell.

Does anyone use a food dehydrator to speed up the drying of their bud?

If so would those members care to share about their unit and how their use it?
-Does it have a fan?
-Is it right to Smoke/Bag straight out of the Machine?
-Is Bag/Jar Curing still neccesary?
-How long from Chopping Down your plant til u are chopping up your Bud?

Time in drying increases potency. I know this personally because my first grow was shitty bagseed from shitty weed. I smoked an ounce of it when harvested...it got you high but only kinda. I recently ran out and still have a week to go on ak48...so rather than steal too many buds off of that...I looked through my clippings from the bagseed that've been in a brown paper bag for a month. Found a few underdeveloped buds in there...crispy as hell but they actually got me higher than the main buds which i smoked before fully dried/cured.

So i guess thats a general consensus of 'No' then. Guess it would be alright for the commercial growers who just want bulk turnover and dont care about the average smoker.. But for personal it seems a No Go.

a dehydrator will dry your bud out way to fast even for the dry much less the cure. The faster you dry weed the shittier it will taste

you want to dry it in about 70-75 degrees, 40-50% humidty, after a few days like that if possible you can raise the temp a little and lower the humidity some more. You can dry it out faster and still get you high its just going to have the green hay taste locked in.

There is no substitution for drying slowly.

You need to dry slow and evenly. You need to let the clorophyll dissipate.

A slow dry is an evenn dry, and lets the moisture and oils work from the inside out. This is what gives the good taste and smell.

I agree that slow is better but if I just have to try some sooner I microwave it at 50% poer in 15 second burst until it is at least dry enough to smoke or vape.

Agreed about the taste but how are they unhealthy?
Dude microwaves cook with radiation, when you prepare food in one they are still cooking for around 15 mins afterwards, what do you think that does to your digestive tract?

About 2 years ago my Wife and I started healthy living, a microwave is just a bastard device to cook on, food taste like shit now that I've gotten away from em.
We are somewhat strict we don't use platic either, only glass and stainless steel.

Google are microwave ovens safe, here is one i found real quick had some stuff I didn't know about how they may change the protein of foods you eat as well.

Yeah the most I ever did was use it for 3-5 seconds to seal up blunt wraps after I rolled one that was a bit wet and I didnt want to wait forever, other than that your sharing your weed with a appliance, that's a waste.

The NESCO Snackmaster by American Harvester. Is a dehydrator that works ok for herbs. Has a low 90 degree setting with fan. Run it 4 hours on, 4 off and 24 - 36 hrs they are ready. Dry till the stems almost break, then jar. Works for me. Lots of taste, not harsh. Just have to watch it or it will over dry. Last dehydrator I had, I bypassed the heater element inside so it was room temp air drying. That worked great also. Was easy to unscrew the top heater/fan assembly and bypass the element.
