One of the true embarrassments to this country has croaked, and I for one haven't been this happy since Rev. Faldwell left us. Christopher Hitchen's quote about Faldwell certainly applies to to Murtha as well "If you gave him an enema, he could be buried in a matchbox".

Unless I'm mistaken, big wet flopping douchebags tend to die in 3's. So, the Dems could lose two more of their brethren.

Have to give him some respect for his service in Vietnam, but since then, yeah... pretty much a straight up douchebag.

First off, I wouldn't give a squirt of piss for your opinion. I fully expected to catch hell from the Libs as well as some of the Conservatives for my post, but I don't give a shit, I'm tired of complete scumbags getting a pass just because they croak. You want to stand up and defend him, go ahead, just makes it easier to identify what kind of bullshit you stand for. He won't be missed by anyone in the military and sure as hell not by me.

As far as respect goes, I gave him EVERY bit of respect he deserved in the last sentence of my opening post. When he falsely (knowingly) accused the service members of our armed forces of the intentional cold-blooded killing of innocent civilians, he became a traitor and an enemy of all soldiers past (me) and present. Even after his claims were debunked and he was made a fool of, he still refused to apologize. You mentioned politics, well those claims were PURELY for political points and he tried to gain them at the expense of dedicated soldiers and put them through hell.

Let me say this clearly.... FUCK HIM. If I weren't an atheist, I'd find comfort knowing he was burning in hell.

I lived in AZ for 10 years, and thought McCain was the only republican I might ever vote for, especially in 2000. What Bush did to him that primary is a shame, just like most of the rest of Bush's legacy.

But McCain is changing, and for the worse. He went back on his word about DADT, among other things. I respect him for his service, but if you look at how he has treated his family and loved ones over the years......yuck

Just my stoned 2 cents about McCain. What was this thread about? Oh, Murtha died upon scrolling up. Um, no opinion. I know he made a cntroversial remark last lection, that is about it. I am too young ot know much else about who he was or what he did.

P, the reason I got angry at the OP, who I still think is a piece of shit, wasn't because I think murtha was a good guy. Like most people, there was good, bad and ugly....maybe a lot more ugly in his case, but that wasn't the point.

I don't like it when liberals gloat at the death of someone like strom thurmond or jerry falwell either, even if I despised those people during their lifetime. If this thread had been "RIP John Murtha, he dedicated his life to serving this country and his district and boy was he a thieving, corrupt liberal porkster" I wouldn't have had a problem with it, frankly. The thread didn't offend me so much based on politics but more for it's lack of basic human decency and decorum.
