Can you control the density of buds? How? Or is it just genetics?

I harvested Early Misty (cheapest seeds I could find) and got the fluffiest buds I've ever seen. Extremely light-weight. Smoked like a champ, but feather-light.

Different methods of growing will produce different results. Some people use cal-mag in order to boost weight and density, others use silica to make their buds seem denser than they really are, I just grow the stuff and it comes out dense. Hydro seems to yield denser buds than soil.
