This is funny. The GOP has been courting Cubans and HIspanics for years with the usual fear mongering about "Marxism". It works very well. DeSantis planned a PR stunt to send immigrants to Pres. Biden's home state of Delaware but had to shelve his plan when it came out that the record number of i9ncoming Cuban immigrants would be sent to Delaware. As you can see, Cubans are coming to replace us.

The same thing happened with his law allowing people to run over protesters blocking roads. The first ones to block a road were Cuban protesters.

DeSantis's election police focuses on blacks with televised stunts while ignoring the white voter fraud of The Villages and the GOP legislator's preparation for a set of fake electors in the event Trump lost.

He successfully gerrymandered a popular black rep in a hopelessly already gerrymandered state and his court picks allowed his unconstiutuional redistrcting map to go through by sending it back to an appeals court thus not allowing time for correction before voting.

Florida is the most corrupt state in the union.

What a POS.

Florida currently has around 12k teacher vacancies, which means that about 600k kids will have full time babysitters when school starts soon rather than licensed teachers. A less known problem in Florida is a lack of qualified substitute teachers, so almost half of those substitute teachers won't even have college degrees. Prior to the "don't say gay" bill being passed, there were 5k teacher vacancies, and since then, then # has nearly doubled. It has nothing to do with not being able to bring up gender and sexual preference in elementary schools. The law allows parents to sue teachers directly....it doesn't take a genius to figure out what happens next. If you've ever taught school before, you know that every year you have at least one seriously mentally ill parent, and several who are politically motivated to make your life hell regardless of how good a teacher you are. This law strips away any protections a teacher has against a direct, frivolous lawsuit, which would typically be dealt with by the teacher's union and school district. Now any mentally ill or aggrieved parent can directly sue any teacher and just claim they "said gay" in the classroom. There is NO WAY I would teach in a state that doesn't protect it's teachers from demented parents. Florida stands at the beginning of a massive decline brought on by Desantis's anti-business and anti-education policies.

DeSantis is an egotistical person, much like Trump who likely thinks "freedom" means he is in charge of you.
Yet, on a scale of idiocy he rates as a lesser idiot compared to some of the buffoons.

I doubt he is as corrupt as some others in the sense that he's made as much money from political shittery as some. Maybe getting to D.C. will change that, as that's where the real money seems to be in political grifting.

He sees himself as some kind of savior, when instead he's just a guy who can give an off the cuff speech and isn't senile. I guess being able to do that without a teleprompter impresses some. Shrug.

Thank God I got to dump that place just in the nick of time..anyone that lost by .5%, then wins the recount with a whole 1%?.that's +1.5%..On a margin that close?

35 years- I had to leave my home of 35 years that's how hostile (in all ways) Florida has become.

I'm one of the generation yuppies with a five year retirement legacy of my own and dealing with previous 25yr legacy of my elder here in Florida. I think we might have to make separate thread just to go over Florida politics alone because it affects so many people in other States. Many have moved here this year and the track homes for $300g are going up street after street. DeSantis is a full bred crony but where do we go? Hector Roos is my choice for Governor because he represents the people and peace. Otherwise DeSantis and Biden are ready to enact gun laws that will erupt in Civil War over the right to bear arms. They are called Red Flag Laws and supercede a person's civil right to "due process". What other option is available? Then there is the Governor's reluctance to recognize medicine and the Doctors who prescribe it thinking he has the right to say how someone medicates. He is inhumane and very ignorant.
