Designing a room around 600watts

I was thinking like a 4x4 or a 4x5 with a 7ft celing. Its going to be air cooled and built from ground up. I plan on having 4-6 nice sized trees most likely will be doing both veg and flower in that room. Any input would be helpful

I would go with a 5x5x7. A 600 is good for a 4x4 footprint 24 inch off plants. But you can have buckets on the walls or half the plant is wasted. Leave 1foot around your grow atleast. Just keep the center of your plants all within the 4x4 of the light.

Sorry. Can't have buckets/pots. They need 6-12 inches off the sides. That said. A 5x5 would become a space for 6 plants under a 4x4 footprint of a 600 light. A 4x4 would be good for a 400w.

If you line it with a reflective matterial there isn't a real need for a 600. But the extra lumens would help with yeild but harder to cool. More light the better yet it makes it harder to control temps. That is something you need to deside. How much extra you want to do. I had a 4x4 tent in my gerage with a 600. Needed a 6" fan running 24/7. And had to cut a hole in the side for AC. Temps of the gerage where 89.

I'm not telling you one or the other. Just trying to give you true options. Not just stats from a book. It's realy up to you.

You can always dim the 600 with a digital ballast. A 400 HPS with some supplemental light would be cool too.

Well the room would be in a room with an ambient temp of just about 70, if I air cool the light regaurdless if its the 400 or 600 the temps shouldnt rasie above 85 and with a good exhuast and intake that should be possible. If anything like sencha said I could always dim it.

As for that hood I dont know that one.

keep the veg area away from the ones flowering, obviously. I have a similar setup with the light just moved up to my eye level, about 6 plants , some propped up 6 inches or a foot. If they get too big or they won't fit- you can train them but each gets +- an equal amount of floor space and canopy space

I run those hoods. They are cheap and well sealed. I just recently bought a Blockbuster to compare quality but it was $60 more. You can either run a 400 watt bulb in the dimmed 600 or just buy cheap bulbs to dim, I hear bulbs don't last as long if you are dimming them below rated value.

Hope that helps.
Good luck, and happy growing!

First post, =D, anyways, just starting my setup which is a 600w 4x4x6'6 tent. The light is the virtual sun 600w air tube cooled. Ill run a 6'' inline carbon filter exhaust out the window, and im debating this now, running another 6'' inline 400 cfm with a muffler. I have them, but not be necessary if i just open all the bottom vent flaps. I dont see a problem with running a 600w in a 4'x'4 space. Running DWC return drip system, 4 plants. I should get some very dense nugs. Ill make another post.
