Dialing my setup in, help and advice

Ok guys and gals, my first grow in 10 years is almost to a end. Results look like they will be decent, wanted to get back in the hang of it so no fancy strains, just bagseed, but the smell... can't wait :)

Current setup is still being added to, but flowering area is done for the most part. Below are specs and I will attach a pic of the 3 girls I have (rip the Hermie that was the 4th).

Setup: (It is a hybrid setup aero/dwc for flowering)
400w hps/mh conversion
40gal res
6 sites in res lid
320 gal/hour submersible pump
H pipe pvc delivery with mister heads (10)
12'x5'x10' grow area

I am adding a clone and veg area, just not done with it, going to run sog. Now I have a pH pen finally, and my tds meter came yesterday. Readings last night 5.8pH, 815ppm, res temp 67 f. I already have them on 12/12, 2 have buds forming (yay) 3rd looks awesome slow bud formation, I can work with that.

Watering is on a timer, and it will be changed to a better timer when I can get my hands on one. Cycle is 30min/2hours, seems to be doing good. Roots are into the res and looking very healthy, but this ppm of 800 worries me. I'm new to ppm with growing, and adjusting it. I think since I do res change about every 2 weeks, ppm should be different. Fert is MG tomato at 2g/gal for 10gal of water in res. In veg I will be using all purpose MG at 1g/gal or around that. I'm not growing to try to impress anyone, I just enjoy growing.

I had a few pH problems when I was in veg. All sorted now, and yea hps is on in the pic I know... it's the only light I have in there right now.

My goal is to just have healthy plants, decent yield. I will be trying a few autos at some point, but that's in the future.

So ppm to raise and lower it easily, any tips?
With this setup being a hybrid, aero when they start (roots misted, suspended in air) and dwc(roots reach the res water/nutes and explode with growth) what should my ppm be at?

Thanks guys and gals,

Ppm's are always different. Each strain likes to eat more or less. Each pheno within that strain will eat more or less.

The best thing you can do is start by going half the reccomended dosage on the container and watch the tips of the leaves on the plant. If they show no signs of nute burn increase your ppm's say 100 more. Keep an eye on the tips and keep increasing. Once they start to show signs of burning back it off about 100.

A plant will increase its needs throughout the cycle but thats a pretty good starting point. Take lots of notes!! How many ppm's week 1 veg week 2 veg into flower etc so that you can dial in the strain and pheno and then you can run it on auto pilot based on your notes. Once you get a strain dialed in you'll probably be like most others and have the irresistible urge to grow a new strain and start from scratch =]

You'll need to study up on plant deficiencies so you can recognize those in the future. Dont chase those either!! Less is more!

Make sure you also have good ventilation in and out of the room as well as circulation inside the room. Get your water temp in the 55-68 range and keep it there. Keep your ph in check but dont become a ph chaser going up and down multiple times a day just try to stay within a range every couple days.

Those are the basics. Dont worry about bud boosters and all the other stuff thats pushed for now.

I would highly suggest getting rid of the MG and getting a good two part fert or GH 3 part
