Did Drowning reduce your yield?

So I have been hearing a lot of nay-sayers about the drowning method, they are saying that this method greatly reduces yield at a moderate improvement to taste and therefore is not worth it. I wanna know the real deal on this because I was thinking of trying it on a grow. So what does the community think?

folks that are against flushing, call it "drowning". I flush my plants because i get a better taste, yield has not been affected by this whatsoever. Respect

I just wanted to point out that by drowning I mean completely submerging a plant into water about a week prior to harvest to kickstart the fermenting process. This is not to be confused with flushing where the roots are still exposed to oxygen.

Its a tried and true old hippy method. Yield is not affected no matter what some say. Its all in the timing and takes some practice to perfect. As it should be followed by a one chop harvest hanging the plant whole in tight conditions to reap the full benefits. Only pulling fan leaves and manicuring the buds after the initial dry. At which time the smoke is already smooth and tasty, like its already cured for 2 or 3 weeks....

Not the whole plant, just the root mass/pot/medium...just in case you may a bit confused.

This is new to me may have to check it out would adding an airstone completely defeat the pourpose? I guess so but the plant won't die? I need more info please

My first hydro grow I did this. I grow in ebb and flow multi-bucket system.

I ended up putting them in 5 gallon hd buckets and drowned until no more wicking.

I did this a few days before I was going to harvest. They wicked for 9 days.

Let's just say I got more 5 gal buckets for next round and I'm hooked.

Right after hang you can smoke, but I cured for 2 more weeks in jars with caliber III hygrometers.

This is some of the best smoke I have ever had. Super smooth, and maybe strain related but it fucking reaks!

I had 4 RP Sour Cush.

I'm no expert grower but I've been smoking a long time, and I know smooth.

I say just try it.

I still have the brand new clearex bottle, I plan on not using it either.

The main downsides I saw were some droopiness from the plant, and be prepared to have some nasty shit water that is pretty rank.

Oh yeah since this was my first grow, I have no idea on wether or not it affected yield.

I got 20 32oz mason jars 80% full, and that was with root aphids.

Airstones off, no o2

I just top off with ro water, no need to ph you can even use tap. The plant won't die.

You may need to prop up the buds from drooping too much.

The plant wil die, thats part of the purpose, kick start the fermentation process.....

Thanks I wasn't clear on that when I posted my comment.

I was thinking of doing this the last two weeks but I was gonna leave the lights on until the last couple of days, does anyone have any opinions on the matter?

I do it all the time now. I used to flush until i read A LOT about why that doesn't work. Now i just drown for 10 whole days. No reduction in bud at all. Easiest and safest way for the beginner to taste a bit of what curing is all about.

You keep growing the plant on the same light cycle it was on when you start drowning. You are finishing one cycle and getting a jump start on the next...

Been underwater for 5 days now, lights too...still hasent given in. And some of you overwater your plants...



3 gallon pot inside a 5 gallon bucket of water...

Never drown a plan I know as I dies the last thing u want is trichs degrading due to light exposure.to me that would be as smart as drying and curing under lights
