first time grow here and im trying to lst. I was tying a branch down and pulled a little to hard I guess. The plant gave no signs of breaking but out of nowhere one of the main branches on it just ripped halfway off the stem. Half of it remained connected and I tied a string around it to hold it in place. Will it be able to heal itself since I have it supported?

I originally had some complications with this plant but it has made such an improvement. I was going to give it another week or so to grow before I switched to 12/12 but I dont know if its worth it now. I have another plant thats reaady for the switch at any time so now im debating on just switching it over now. Should I give the plant an extra week to heal itself or is it not even worth it?

Right now both plants are standing at around 8" tall

That has happened to me before and I just taped it. And whenever you inflict positive stress to your plant its always a good idea to give a week for rejuvenation before you apply more stress. Lets say you entered your rejuvenating plant into bloom state. The plant is trying to recover from the lst snap and you just introduced another strss factor a change of photoperiod. Adding too much stress to a plant can ultimately cause hermaphroditism.

if the break isn't too long, i use a kitchen match as a splint and then tape it well. have had to use this method a few times always worked fine. GL

Electrical tape works best I find, only problem with it is if the moisture is too high you might need a little more. I wouldnt suggest duct tape, I know a lot of people say that it works and it does but when you try to take it off you want something to go easier.
