Did my Topping go OK???

Just topped my 3.5 week old kush (first time topping ever) and wanted to make sure i did it right! After I cut above the two side shoots i noticed a liquid coming out of the cut which i assume is normal but today it appears to be brown.

here are some pics of my plant and where i topped it



hope it doesnt' matter that the two side shoots are very small, i wanted to cut at the top of the plant to hopefully save on more growing time.


so can i expect to see my new two colas in the next few days??

two new colas?? are you in the flowering stage? when u top the plant it will have two smaller colas during flowering rather than one big one.. i just topped most of my plants in veg and the two new shoots are lookin good... you should start to see that soon too...

ya she's still in veg. Gonna repot her in a week then probably put into flower in 3 weeks. The brown is all good tho? Normal healing process?

By brown you mean the necrotic ends where you made the cut? That's fine, no problem there. But how often do you water these?

Oh you mean the droopy leafs? Ya not sure why they're doing that. I water her usually every 6-7 days. My veg room is very dry tho so I mist every other day. Also the leafs are hard and kind of crispy to feel, could that still be from too much water?

cause i dont think crispy is a good thing
i gotta say tho every 7 days seems liek u should water it a bit more often
i mean after all its pretty big
id rather water everyday witha small amount then water every 7 days with a huge amount
dont take my advice tho i am still sorta new to everything

btu the best way to help ur plant is to research as much as possible urself before ur next grow then ur sure to have an awsome grow
bt yah watering it more often seems like a good course of action but wait for soemoen to tell u that other then me then ill know if i was right

I agree with this statement. I don't foliar feed mine at all, and I am having good luck with just normal feedings.

well I only mist with PH'd water about 6.5 to get humidity in the air because its around 25% humidity + a fan to keep lights cool.

also i believe most say to do large waterings and then letting the medium completely dry out so air can travel easier to roots before reclogging with water and nutes again.

Do you think if i stop misting it will be ok with low humidity during veg?

Foliar spraying in dry conditions can cause your leaves to dry out at an alarming rate. Having a fan blowing on the leaves when they are wet will only aggravate the problem. You might consider the humidifer as mentioned or on the cheap pans of water in the room, the larger the surface area the more moisture. Foliar feeding can give you great benefits but it is not meant to do often. Tap water contains many additives which can accumulate on the leaves and are then continually being absorbed into the leaf. I also agree with long drenching waterings, preferring to set my containers into a tank and submerse the majority of it under water. I wouldn't suggest trying this on your girls though without practicing on other plants, but done correctly it allows me more time inbetween waterings.

Spraying your plants down causes the nitrogen in the leaves to be flushed into the root system. Causes stunted growth. That's why your plants look sad.
Cause u hurtin dem.

ahhh i c. She does look sad haha i got a gift card at a place i'm sure sells humidifiers so that should solve most of my problems it seems.

When I first saw his pictures, I also thought over watering. But his leafs are also curling. They have heavy ridges. I can not stop wondering if there is another issue also. Myself, I would like more information. Plants like the same PH, but Soil buffers the Nutrient Soup, this is why you ph soil higher then Hydro and Coco. For this reason when you mist you should be shooting for a PH of about 5.8.

What kind of nutrients are you useing? What is the PPM? Are you sure the roots are not root bound? Are you sure there is Plenty of Drainage? How warm is it at the top of your plants? Are they getting plenty of fresh air?
I see a lot of perlite, but I have seen some types of soil bind so tightly around the perlite that drainage is reduced in a big way. If these were my plants I would repot them into a better soil. (Do roots look and smell fresh). Well really I would not use a better Soil, I would use High Grade Coco, like Canna Coco. Coco is almost 100% impossible to over water and always has plenty of Air down where the roots can use it. (Never use pressed Bails of Coco) Either way, I would repot now, and make sure you have a good Medium that will drain easily.

I would get this issue fix'd before sending them into flowering, for sure.

I think that if we get more information, we will find another reason for this happening, or a combination of issues.

One side note. I also hardly ever mist my plants.

Hey there Balzac. Wouldn't the leafs be turning yellow or have a yellowish ting to them, and not a dark green if the Nitrogen was leaching out? I do not know about what happens from over misting, because a rarely do it.
