dieing

This is my first time and my plants are dieing into their 2nd week...


The lower leaves are turning yellow at the tips and curling upwards dramatically...

I'm not sure if this is caused by over watering?

I've searched and I'm not sure if its a nitrogen deficiency or not.

Also i'm using miracle grow soil, which i heard was bad? Help

Looks like nute burn or heat stress, its not overwatering and that plant is far to young to suffer from a deficiency.

Im not a soil grower but I think your problem has to do with the miracle grow. Did you feed with any nutes? What type of miracle grow did you use?

What kind of light are you using and how do you position it? The soil looks good and wet, let it dry out about knuckle deep before watering.

I usually don't feed nutes to plants until 2 weeks/3rd set of leaves.

Its just the soil that miracle grow produces with a blend of nutes inside of it.


I'm using a 400watt HPS its positioned about 2 ft above the plant.

Should i try transplanting into a regular soil with no nutes?

personally speaking, I don't really think its the soil its self.. that's causing this problem.

If your feeding nutes to this young sprout.. that's where your creating the problem. Why? Well, its simple really. Most MG soils already have nutrients premixed into the soil.. enough for a good months worth of feeding. So, by you adding nutes, to a plant that's already getting enough nutes from the soil alone.. your over feeding the plant.

Now, I'm not accusing you of anything here.. (i've come across some "touchy" ppl on this site) so I wanna clear that up before hand. I'm not accusing you of nothing. But, if you are feeding the plant nutrients.. with the nutrients its already getting from the premix soil your using.. then yes, you are over feeding it.

If this is the case, then I would immediately stop feeding the plant nutrients.. as your not really suppose to start feeding a plant any nutes until its mature enough to handle the nutes. Which, usually, won't be for a good two to three weeks, of veg. cycle. But after that, you can start feeding the plant. But make sure that, if your using a premix soil, that is already filled with nutrients.. make sure that the soil is no longer able to "feed" the plant nutrients.. before you start feeding the plant an outside source of nutrients (the nutrients you feed it).

For sure don't add nutes to MG soil that early. MG soil is usually very "hot" out of the bag. I'm thinking gangaluvr has it right here. Do you have a ph meter to check that soil by chance?

personally to me it sounds like the start of a magnesium deficiency, but only being on there 2nd week and suffering from a magnesium deficiency doesn't make much sence, but can happen, heres a little more info on magnesium deficiency: Common indoors, lower and later middle leaves develop yellow patches between darker green veins and rusty brown spots on leaf margins, tips and between veins. Leaf tips usualy curl upward before dying. The entire plant could discolour in a few weeks and if severe turn yellow/whitish tinge before browning and dying. Minor deficiencies can escalate and cause a diminished harvest. It is often in soil but unavailable because soil is too wet/cold or acidic/cold. An excess of K, ammonia (nitrogen) and calcium (carbonate) bind Mg (magnesium) in soil. Small root systems are unable to take in enough Mg to supply heavy demand. A high EC slows water evaporation and diminishes Mg availability. How to treat this deificiency: Water with two tablepsoons of Epsom salts (magnesium sulphate) per gallon of water. For fast results, spray foliage with a 2% solution of Epsom salts. Greening starts at top of plant and moves downward. Add same dose intill symptoms disappear. Or apply magnesium sulphate monnohydrate. Add fine dolomite lime when planting to ensure a supply of calcium and Mg. Hope this helps in some way. P.S Miracle Grow isn't perticularly good for cannabis, you want a more specific/better medium like fox farm, biobizz, etc. But it will grow a plant so thats all that matters unless, you could sort out a better medium and when transplanting make sure the new (better medium) is going to be in the larger pot.

And nah, i haven't fed it anything... It just has the MG soil, and I'm pretty sure our water here is a little on the basic side.

I'll pick up some epson salt and spray them down, thanks guys. This is depressing... haha

the magnesium deficiency makes sense, i just tested the waters ph and its in the 6 range, thanks!

What should i add to get it up?

From my experience, and judging by the many miracle grow journals/photos on this site, your soil probably isn't the culprit. Miracle grow can work great for the vegging stage. I water with untreated tap water, but it will sit for several days before ever being used on my plants. How big is your pot, and how often have you been watering?

So i added the epson salt and the lime to my water and sprayed the leaves down with a mixture of water and epson salt..

One plants head is completely bent over, i hope it works.

PH should be exactly 7?
