Difference in heat between CFL's and HPS.

Currently my setup uses 12 43w cfls and 2 t8 tubes. I want to get rid of all the cfls and tubes and switch to a 430w HPS. Considering i'm using almost 600 watts it seems dumb not to switch over to HID.

As it is now it hovers around 85-90 in the grow room so I don't want an increase in heat really, is there going to be much difference or no? Seems like it should be cooler because those cfls actually get pretty warm and there are so many of them.

with that many cfl's--switching should be the same or less--but the growth rate should be good--my advice switch!!!!!

If you're worried about heat why not get a 400 instead of a 430? It will be less heat if properly cool, you can get a cooltube for $60. Once you get your temps below 80 your plants will grow a lot faster

watt for watt flourescents put out more heat than hid. Go for it.

It's not going to make a huge difference in temps though unless you get a cooltube, then you'll see the temps plummet.
