Different pheno’s or am I missing something?

Hi guys,

I’ve been growing some Ethos mandarin cookies V2 from seeds for a couple of grows. But I’m getting different results every grow and even within every grow.
I use Aptus nutes, kingbrite quantumboards and a DWC set up.

I was wondering what you guys think.

For around 40% of the plants I’m getting these flat very leafy small buds. At first I was thinking I overdid it with the N in flower. But the pictures I’m posting are two plants, both in the same DWC tub, so all the variables are identical. Yet the buds are quite different. (3x3 tent, 250w qb with uv diodes)

Is this due to the genetics? Or am I missing smt here? What do you guys think?

Yes...different pheno.

I believe v2 would be similar to f2 if im understanding colins abbreviated terms right. F2's usually have a wide phenotype spread showing you a picture of all the genetics involved in the line. Most probably what your seeing.

Its even “worse” its F1. This a different cookies strain crossed with mandarin sunset. I think they use r2 for F2.
Still i’d expect not to have such a difference in bud production. But I’ll be pheno hunting this grow and setting up a motherplant for future grows.

Intresting. Thanks for the info. May be that breeding the cookies hybrid to another cookies causing all the phenos. A f1 is usually quite stable.

Looks like different phenos to me.

I've grown genetics that produced 2 phenotypes from 10 seeds, and I've grown tester genetics that produced 6-7 phenotypes from a single pack. Both can have their plus sides. I found one of my favorite plants in one of those tester runs, and kept it for 5ish years.

You should also remember that phenotypes are specific to the environment they are being grown in. So if you give your cuttings to friends or if you buy cuttings from someone it is very likely they will grow differently than they did for the original grower in their room.

That is another great piece of information!

Thanks a lot!

I love growing different strains and am limited to 5 plants, which makes phenohunting a very big commitment.
