Different pots to use? And other newbie questions?

Hey all,

I am a medical patient and I am going to start my first grow!

I am making a 8 foot long greenhouse, maybe extending it to 12 ft.

Either way, I am doing 1 plant per square foot and I was going to make raised beds to plant them in.

I was just wondering, if I am going to grow from clones, what type of pots should I put them in for the vegetative stage. Or should I just plant them in the raised bed for the entire process?

Also, if I use good quality soil, do I still need to add nutrients and such?

Thanks.

A good pot to use is the "smart pot." I have used them with good success on indoor grows. Dense root growth is encourage, eliminating curling at the edge of the pot.

As for nutrients, I am sure you are better off adding. I do not believe you need specially designed nutes. A generic 3-1-2 should be fine for vegging.

Good luck with the grow !!!!! It sounds like you have a big time plan.

Thanks for the reply.

Should I put them in pots for the vegetative stage or should I just put them into the raised bed?

I always try to do as few transplants as possible. If it goes right into the beds, it will never get rootbound or transplant shock. If you have a greenhouse and you know are in the right season, you can have them veg right in the beds from clone.

If you have clones in the wrong season, when days are getting shorter, you may need to veg indoors, then transplant into greenhouse.

If you are a first time grower and are growing in an outside greenhouse, make sure you know when you should plant outside. You do not want clones going directly into flower.

Oh yes I think I am good then. In Northern California at this time, the days only keep getting longer. So I'm pretty hopeful that I am going to have a successful grow! :)

Glad to hear, sounds like an interesting project. You should take pics nd maybe vid every week and make a jornal. You'll get some beauties in a greenhouse there. Good luck.
