Disabled Handicap advice

Hello forum,

I am new to this forum and I really could use some help. Although some of my questions you may have already answered for other people I would really appreciate your answers.

My name is Jay Sullivan I am from the United Kingdom and I have a severe disability called Spinal Muscular Atrophy Type 2 (SMA TYPE 2 for short). This consequently makes me electric wheelchair bound/unable to walk, and unable to do anything on my own without help, which requires me to have a carer/personal-assistant 24/7. SMA Type 2 also gives me added health problems such as scoliosis (curvature of the spine). I enclose the following link that gives further information on my disability and some of the health issues it brings.

http://www.nhs.uk/conditions/Spinal-muscular-atrophy/Pages/Symptoms.aspx

One of the problems that I face…. is the amount of pain each day I go through. Unfortunately cannabis is not available on the NHS, crazy as this might seem they would rather give someone tramadol or diazepam rather than a natural healer like cannabis.

I am a great believer that cannabis can cure many things and allow people to lead a normal life such as myself with a disability.

I have tried cannabis and I prefer the benefits of it rather than tramadol and diazepam. The trouble is I have limited connections on how to obtain good cannabis. I have a friend who smokes it a lot but I rarely see him so I do not get a Constant supply.

I do not know what strains are which and I do not know what the benefits of each are. All I know is that skunk is not very good and I should keep away from street stuff as you don't know what goes into it and it's better to grow it yourself.

My first question is has anyone had experience with the NHS and acquiring cannabis legally.

My second question is I do not have a lot of Space where I live and I would like to grow my own cannabis for personal consumption and I would like to grow a strain completely 100% organic.

——I have heard there are grow systems such as the Aero Garden. Are there any other types of Grow systems.

——I would be looking at a system that does not require too much attention as I am not physically able to water feed etc regularly as I would have to rely on my personal assistance/carer to help whom are more than happy to help me grow it if it helps my pain.

——I would like to grow enough so that I can make a pill form of cannabis as smoking can damage my lungs due to my disability

——I would like to grow a strain that does not get you completely stoned but you can ease off my pain allowing me to carry on with my life.

——I have also heard that there are chewing gum available but I do not know if this is legal in UK.

I hope you can all help I would really appreciate it

Kind regards,

Jay Sulivan

hey jay :), sorry to hear about your condition mate, if u head down the growing route u should try out a hydroponic system cause they don't require much attention plus from what i've seen hydro work's better than soil. and with your condition i would look up indica strains for the pain, cannabis doesn't stop pain it more distracts it so u don't feel it as much.

i'd give the opposite advice: go for a soil grow. needs less atttention than hydro and much easier to go organic with soil. do some internet searching for strains for pain relief that are available in the UK. probably indicas are your best bet. i'd also recommend a vaporizer vs. making pills which is pretty labor intensive.

too bad you aren't in Colorado. we have everything you can think of infused with cannabis from soda to candy.

Thanks for all your replies I will have a look at both recommended ways.....

I'm a great believer that we are organisms and we can be cured by plants if in the way we were created by them if you catch my drift...

I know it is a shame I am not in America I have friends out in America and they have often told me about this route I would like to try the chewing gum but thanks a lot for your help
