G'day guys,
First of all I would like to say i'm a long time reader and first time poster to this wonderfull site.
Now that said I will start explaining how I have made an Exhaust Scrubber for my cabinet grow.
It is made from PVC pipe and Aquarium Activated Carbon.
You will need the following:
- 1.5kg Activated Carbon
- 30cm length Chain
- 3 Screw in Hooks
- 1m x 1m Fly-Screen
- 400mm length 150mm PVC Pipe
- 430mm length 90mm PVC Pipe
- 150mm PVC Cap
- 90mm PVC Cap
- 150mm to 100mm PVC Reducer
- 100mm to 90mm PVC Reducer
Tools:
- Drill
- 3mm Drill Bit
- 35mm Hole Saw
- Tape
- PVC Cement
- Hot Melt Glue Gun
Steps to take to create:
1 - Glue the 90mm PVC Cap to the inside of the 150mm PVC Cap with the Hot Melt Glue Gun. Making sure the 90mm cap is the right side up so the 90mm pipe can go nicely straight into it.
2 - Drill lots of holes in the 150mm and 90mm pipes for the air to get through.
3 - Cut the Fly-Screen so it fits over the holes arround the 150 and 90mm PVC Pipes.
4 - Hot Melt Glue the Fly-Screen to the outside of the 90mm PVC Pipe and to the inside of the 150mm PVC Pipe.
5 - PVC Cement the 150 and 90mm PVC Pipes into the 150 and 90mm caps that are glued together and fill in-between the 90 and 150mm PVC Pipes with Activated Carbon.
6 - PVC Cement the 90 to 100mm PVC Reducer into the 100mm end of the 150 to 100mm Reducer. Making sure the 90mm end of the 90 to 100mm Reducer is facing into the 150mm end of the 150 to 100mm Reduer.
7 - PVC Cement the reducers over and onto the Activated Carbon filled PVC Piping.
8 - Drill 2 3mm holes on each side of the top of the 150 to 100mm reducer and screw in the hooks and hang it up.
9 - Tape in the 125mm Ducting to the 100mm end of the 150 to 100mm reducer.
There you have it...An Activated Carbon Scrubber for use with 125mm ducting.
You can also Zip Tie some Aquarium Filter Sheet around the outside to make it look better if you're a phussy bastard
Sorry if it is a bit hard to understand but you should be right all in all it cost me ~$50.
