DIY Grow Tents?

I haven't been able to find too much detail on self-assembled grow tents. I imagine that one can be made for much less than they retail for, and for a guy who has a room to himself all of the time they seem to be an easy set-up.

The problem is, I've never built anything, and wouldn't know precisely how to go about it. The frame--PVC pipe? Steel? Is Panda film good enough for the lining material, or is it too thin? If anyone has a link that has eluded me, that'd be fine too.

well, im setting one up actually... no link for ya, but i got tha gameplan... i was going to use pvc for its strength and ease of assembly/disassembly for the frame. as for the tent itself, i have selected a material that is overlooked by many for reasons unknown to me. its called ultreflect by sunleaves, it is black canvas with a mylar coating... very strong, and VERY reflective. there are zipper kits that stick right on like a decal. just pick a spot on a wall for a door, stick on the zipper and make a cut where it is to separate... all in all for about a hundred bucks you can assemble a kick ass growtent of your own specifications that if designed correctly could outperform most commercial tents...( bear in mind that you can choose your own location/number/ size of any vents or openings as well...so much control...) good luck bruh!

No idea on the zippers but if I was going to build one I'd probably build a frame from 2x4's or PVC pipe and then get a tarp to put on the frame. Sounds like a decent way to do it to me.

If you went to your local fabric store they might carry some zippers that would work.

I think some hydro storres and hardware stores sell a zipper strip that u put where u want the door.

well i have a diy tent right now with a tarp on it but the door isnt 100% light proof and because im going to have 2 tents 1 for veg and flowering i need it to be light proof. I guess im going to have to take a trip to my local fabric store and take a look around.

as a long lost ice fisherman i took my portable ice shack and set it up im my basement. its 6x6x6, heavy black canvas shell with 2 doors. i taped shut one window, and cut a hole in the other to run my exhaust thru. on the ceiling i cut another hole to add another exhaust fan pulling hot air from the top. this was a great idea on my part saveing money by not buying a "grow hut" for hundreds of dollars, instead i used up something that did nothin but take up space hehehe.
