DIY Keif Press

So I got bored and wanted to press an ass load of keif... This is the idea I used.


A plastic tube with an end on it
2 quarters
a penny
and a small clamp

Coat the quarters with wax paper, I used foil and was not impressed, this will help you remove the sticky sticky pressed keif.



Place one coated coin inside the tube and lay in your keif.




Place the other quarter on top and put the penny under the plastic bottom between the clamp and the plastic tube bottom and crank it down!


Pull the quarter out and you have this:


Enjoy your new pressed keif!


Keep pressing to make hash!:weed:

Physics... Pressure = heat.

You press it and press it.

I never said it was the quickest or easiest way to press keif, but it is how I do it when I fill up the bottom of my pollinator.

"pollinator" is the legal name you would ask for in the smoke shop (kinda like don't ask for a bong ask for a water pipe). Basically it is a grinder with multiple levels, the herbs are ground on the top level and pass to the next level where there is a fine screen that sifts the trichromes from the fresh ground herb. It does not reduce the potency of my medicine noticeably. The trichromes are all collected in the bottom level. I empty mine every couple of days. I do not force anything through the screen.

You might be able to see it in the pictures up there. The silver cylinder thing.

oh i know what that is, just never heard the term. I smoked kief in a volcano a few weeks ago, sooooo baked. Looks like you got a good amount there, enjoy.

I use a Kief Box:


[SIZE=-1][FONT=Arial,Helvetica]Price:$65.00[/FONT][/SIZE]

This is a WICCA Kief box, the very best one on the market. There is one slightly larger and one slightly smaller, and you'll need one to make HIGH GRADE blonde Lebonese or Blonde Afganey Hash. You can buy them at a "head shop" or "smoke shop" or "herbal accessories" store or order them off the internet. I suggest you Do NOT get a GRINDER Box or Spaceship Box. They make lower grade green or brown grade hash because they allow some small amount of leaf into the kief..

Left over fan leaves make OIL. The left over trim leaves are for making HASH.
Those CRYSTALS, (slang term) on the leaves are called trichomes, while they are still on the leaves. In Europe, they call them resin glands. AFTER you remove them, they are called KIEF.
After you bake them, into a lump or chunk or cake, they are called HASH. That is where the HEADY HIGH THC is.

A lot of people make HASH a difficult way, called Bubble Hash with ICE and Ice water. If you google HASH, youtube, you can watch 300 videos on how to make hash. The most difficutl way is BUBBLE hash with ice water. I use a strainer, or filter or screen, that is in my kief box, to remove them.
MUCH EASIER FOR ME!. Get a kief box or a permanent metal coffee filter and I'll help you if yu have questions. It is easy the way I do it!

If I roll two joints a day, and use my kief box as a rolling tray, to break down my bud, at the end of each month, I find a gram to two grams of high grade kief in the bottom of my box.

That looks nice! The area I'm in it is hard to find such a nice box.

Do you make your oil with your fan leave using the BHO method or the ISO method?

I always used the ISO method and never am really pleased with the results. What are they calling it now the Qwiso method?

Also, what do you do with your trim? I make tinture from it because I don't feel like taking the time to dry it and make hash from it. I make all of my keif straight from the buds.

Thanks for popping in and giving more detail, I do use less superior tools but I get the desired effect. I would have to say if someone chose to use the perm metal coffee filter to select a high quality fine screen one, the loose screen one I have at home is much larger and will let a considerable amount of leaf matter through.

One idiot on youtube forced his entire bud through the screen and called it keif! LOL, if only he knew.

Is that a grinder in the box you have also? It looks like an old sweet leaf grinder I had back in the late 90s.

I make HASH from the leaves I manicure off the buds, the leaves with trichomes. I make ISO Oil from the big FAN leaves.

Nope, I don;t use a gridner, jsut the screen.

I understand you make hash from your trim but do you place it on the screen and shake it around? That is what I'm wondering. I don't typically roll my trim into joints is why I'm asking how you get the keif off of them.

I looked at your post about the oil, same way I do my ISO oil.

I dry my MANICURED leaves, until they will crumble. THEN I freeze them.
I get on my sofa with a good movie on, with my box and the frozen leaves in a biggie. I put that baggie in a big stainless steel bowl with ICE to keep them COLD. (Frozen trichs come off very easy) I put a half cup of leaves on my screen, in my box, and rake them around with a tool that came with the box that has leather on the end. (trichs will not stick to leather) I rake taht half cup of dried frozen leaves around for ten minutes, then remove them to another bowl, and then add some more. I do that several sundays after a harvest, to work about 8 to 16 ounces of dried leaves on my screen. My box has a very fine mesh to it. I do nto get any leaf, just kief.
When I get 4 to 8 grams of kief, I compress and bake it in cellophane.

Nice, I'll have to give that a try.

Thank you for the description, I have been thinking of my time growing up on the farm and we had to sift our potting soil with a screen. I may make a smaller version of that with a very fine screen and attach a box to the bottom to see if I can collect a good deal in one sitting. That is a great idea though. I enjoy making the Green Dragon with my trim right now. I give bottles to friends who cannot smoke but are still able to drink as well as cana butter as it doesn't affect the liver as hard as the Green Dragon.

So you bake your keif in celophane in the oven to cake it? Much easier than pressing with my press. I only do about a half a gram at a time pressing, I may let it collect longer and try that. Do you use basically a cigarette pack? No one here smokes cigarettes is why I ask. Oh and what heat setting?

I put 3/4 inch deep in bottom of cig pack, and press it down tight, and rollit with a rolling pin or beer bottle. I bake it at 300 degrees for 25 minutes.

I saw a dude on here at RIU put his buds in an empty Pringles Potato chip tube, and put a tightly stretched nylon stocking over the end, and shake the trichs out over a mirror.

i JUST found a WAAAAAAAAAAAAY easier way!



watch this!
you just need:
a medicine capsule/bottle
and lots and lots a quarters!

1. fill about a half inch of the bottle with kief
2.stack quarters on it till they reach the top of the bottle
3.add one more quarter at the top so its peekin outta the top of the bottle
4. force the cap back on so itll keep constant pressure on the kief for about 10 hours

note: as long as the first few coins are quarters, it doesnt really matter what you use after that
