Do canabis plants sleep while in the dark ? I think you would be surprised by the answer lol

Hey every one my names
Rob Rex I just joined group and I am very glad I did. I have been an off and on grower since I was 16 and I’m 33 now. I currently have both out door and indoor grows going and for my indoor im using a all spectrum led. Anyways lol I was searching on google for random information on growing and found the most interesting thread on 24 hour vs 18/6 Veg lightiing and I got great information but my lord it turned into the most interesting conversation on if plants sleep and I learned so much!! Some of these members were so educated on botany but there was this one guy who refused no matter how many very educated individuals tried to get it through his head that canabis plants don’t really sleep and the closet thing they get to sleep is after it rains and the ph levels drop and the plant can’t intake nutrients and more of shuts down than sleeps and this guy just would not accept it and still after all the facts and articles believed canabis plants sleep while in darkness but god damn it was an entertaining conversation but I digress lol can’t wait to pick everyone’s brains and learn lots of new growing related techniques

Well I think the way to solve the argument is simple. Measure a plant for a few days when the lights go off and again when they turn back on.
If it grows during the day and grows at night then they can't be sleeping.

I wouldn't say sleep, still somewhat active at night.

If a plant uses energy to grow/heal,& charge during the day, wouldn't it have that stored energy to grow at night making 24hr a waste? It might be possible to use such a shit light that it won't get enough done in a day, making 24hr seem like it provides faster growth.

OK, resting.

I just had to say it. The way I look at it if the stems have water in them and the leaves can evaporate water you have movement of nutrients. Can a leaf or branch make use of the raw materials? I should ask my cousin, she took the stuff in university and retired a few years ago from working at an evil corporation making better plants.

Well in the same vein what about the emerson effect then? That is the main premise that it puts your plants to sleep" faster read dr. Emersons study so if plants dont sleep is it just B.s idts ive seen the first hand results over several grows now.

I have been been reading up on it and supposedly as far as botanist’s are concerned the only time a canabis plant gets what we consider any kind of sleep is after the rain because the ph levels get extremely low and the plant tells it self to shut down because it cannot intake any nutrients. What these study’s I’m reading online try to pinch into your head is that plant and humans are totally different and we think of sleeping involving dark and night but the fact is cannabis plants work even harder in the dark using all the energy it has stored from the sun / light. Really cool infact something I never new. I still find myself using the term sleeping when I put my girls in the dark lol habit

at night time photosynthesis shuts down and the plant starts delivering sugar throughout the plant instead... So yeah they don't sleep they just turn off certain systems at certain times
