you should probally re-phrase the title so it makes sense, lol. from the title i couldnt tell what your talking about at all. it sounded to me like you were talking about the enviroment and the filters effect on it.
no, you cant re-activate it. depends on the filter itself and its style and design as to how often you need to change it.

I have no source to show, but I read somewhere on this thought. I am not sure what the temps. are needed to re-activate carbon, but it is stated that house hold ovens don't even come close to it.
It takes incinerator level of heat.
BigBudBalls will show up and give us the definitive answer shortly. But for now, I can tell you that YES, it is possible to reactivate carbon but that NO, you do not have an oven or the other materials to do it. My stoned memory betrays me, but you have to heat it to 800+ degrees fahrenheit and then do other stuff to it. Cost of replacing the carbon is much cheaper. I just posted a thread where I found 5 lbs of CTC rated activated carbon for $30 shipped, look through my threads and you will find it.
I just asked my hydro shop how long they lasted, and he said about 6 months, on average, maybe a few months longer. I don't know how true that is, because he's probably trying to get me to buy them more often, lol so i would guess they would last from 9-12 months.

I got a question.....I have a grow closet, decent size, prolly 7 ft long by 4 ft wide and 10 or more ft high. I am using a 400 watt MH light about 3 ft from tops and they are currently in 2 or 3 gall pots. the only ventilation I have is a gap under the door. My temp is around 80 degrees with lights on and fan running and humidity is right at 50 %. Now the question is I need to get rid of the smell thats going to come out from under the door for when i have company so they dont smell it.....how do I do this, and lemme know if everything else seems good. No problems yet! Much thx for any help ;0)
i have a phat filter i believe and they claim it lasts 16 months but i will change mine closer to every 12, like stated above heat, humitity and "stankiness" will effect. as for other ways beside a carbon filter there is a gel, i think it is called ona gel, you can get a bucket and just open the top, but it is almost as much as the filter at my grow shop
