for a 5ft tall by 4 X 4 room with say 5-8 plants, do i need 1000w light or could i get the same yields with a 600w light in the same situations?
do i REALLY need 1000w or will 600 do?

Ok, is it bad to have a 6 duct fan running constantly if the lights make it to.hot

no get a glass enclosed vented hood , and put your ducting on the fan so it sucks the heat out of the hood set the hood about 6 inched above plants

I have a 6" duct fan(the shitty $30 one) that I leave on 24/7 and it's lasted over a year now.
Most hydro fans are intended for extended use tbh, I'd always check with the seller/manufacturer but most of the time they know what these things are being used for and design them as such.
If you're using a kitchen/bathroom fan then they probably would burn out eventually though

Yeah I figured it'd be a good idea, any cheap Ideas for a homemade hood?
I've seen people use take-out packages as reflectors, like the foil ones curries come in, but personally I'd say if you're gonna do it cheap, get a super-cheap secondhand one because light is one of the main factors in growing a plant if you get me. A plant will be stunted without a whole host of things but CAN'T grow without light and nutrition
