Depends on a lot of variables. What is the average daytime and night time temps. How many hours of light will you actuall get, remember days are still getting shorter. Do farmers in the area grow anything like kales, lettuces, or other greens this time of year? Reason I ask is that you may be able “grow” but it may not give you any return on your investment of money and time

Yes agreed.... autos do best between 18 and 22 hours of light. It would almost be a waist of time unless you had supplemental lighting outdoors

I grew an auto for the first time outdoors this past season with success it probably got 8-10 hrs direct sun or less. It was only my 3rd season growing. I will be growing more autos in the future because of the success and difficulty pushing photo period plants past the end of September due to relative humidity causing problems.

Personally I will be putting an auto out in March this year to see what sort of boundaries I can establish or push just for my own experience the best way to figure out if something can be done is by trying yourself and then you know for sure.

Depending on where you live you can have drastically different results compared to someone who might be giving advice. I live in the Pacific Northwest so it stays relatively mild in the winter at the lower elevations close to the ocean.

Righto. There goes that idea. I was just trying to find a way to keep my self amused in the off season with out using lights. Thanks guys.
If you have any old photo seeds laying around, go ahead and do a winter grow. If it is legal where you are and you are growing in the back yard, you can extend veg outdoors by running a light for an hour or two at midnight every night. You are still getting most of your light from the sun, but the lights will keep it from flowering. When you get them as large as you want, stop with the midnight lights, and they will flower.

Save those autos for the longest days of summer.
