Does anybody know why WIPEOUT was pulled from stores?

I've heard various stories and you know how stories go when passed from ear to ear....so what was in this shit that got it pulled from the market? I bought a $60 gallon of this shit and now it's pulled from every store in Michigan, but the best answer I can get from the shop owners is that it had an ingredient in it that wasn't listed on the label.

That's some serious fucking shit to me and it should be to everyone else that has / is using this shit. I know I can buy forbid and the like on ebay for dirt cheap, but I wouldn't use that shit in my home if it was given to me for free with every assurance possible it wouldn't harm me or my pets.

Does anybody know what the unnamed ingredient is in this product? The last time I used it, I got dizzy and felt awkward for about a half hour after using it. It's 1 step closer to being thrown in the damn trash at this point, but I thought I'd try and get some feedback first. Everyone keeps telling me how well it works but at what health-related expense and what unnamed ingredient is in there would be my question?

Don't know, thankfully I've never had the problem. After a quick snoop about, the only mention I saw was a facebook post back on jan 28th, it was another person saying their shop said there was a recall. Any clue of the variety of mite? The hardest hitting stuff I've used is Spinosad on thrips (OMRI listed) and see mixed reviews about it's effectiveness on mites. I know this is not likely an attractive option, but it seems that this has been some what of a plague for you. I don't know if you ever did knock them out completely or if this is a reoccurrence, but I can't help but to think of my time in the reef aquarium hobby.

What I'm thinking of is ich. Nasty little parasite that attacks fish. It's fairly easy to treat in a hospital tank with copper sulfate. Scary thing looking in your tank and seeing a pair of wrasses worth several hundred dollars have come down with ich. Worse yet is having them in a tank full of coral and invertebrates of equal value that would all certainly be killed by the copper treatment. What I'm getting at is, as a final option all fish would be removed for 90 days effectively removing the host. Cut off the head and the body dies.

I mean no offense, it's just that sometimes you can expend so energy and resource fighting and still not have it go your way. Which brought me around to wondering if it couldn't be worth your time to try to procure some supplies, step back and wait it out? :peace:

I ran out of seeds and had to resort to clones again and got spider mites from the cloner's garden...I even dunked them in the strongest recommended azamax solution when got them to no avail. I just couldn't afford to buy / wait for seeds so it was a the 'stuck between a rock and a hard place' type of situation which brings me to my current situation.

I have new seeds on the way now but I have this current grow to still flower out and as I mentioned, I have a gallon of this recalled wipeout formula and I'm apprehensive to use it again. I will try to call the company on the bottle tomorrow but I have a feeling I'm going to hear a disconnected line...and I will be picking up something else.

I'll report back with what I hear tomorrow. I'm just hoping the secret ingredient is nothing toxic to humans and pets...

I've heard some stories that involve the EPA and labeling. the active ingredient in wipeout is avid if you cant find wipeout.

Was wipeout called something else and was renamed Wipeout because it had harsh chemicals that wasn't in the label? Or it was Wipeout then renamed?

Avid is some serious stuff...if that's true they concealed the fact that the product contains avid, that's some seriously irresponsible shit because you have to wear proper ppe when applying products such as avid. It's highly toxic to animals and humans...I do believe the product info for avid even suggests a respirator.

Poor Johnny seems to always be battling pests
Ya I know man...growing from seed only from here out. I got 2 tents so I could keep a mother but these fucking apartment inspections they love to randomly do where I live required me to disassemble my veg tent and kill off my beautiful 5' lush green mother. It literally made me sick to my stomach to bag that girl up in a black trash bag. So, to keep the big wheels turning being that I had no seeds on hand (shortsighted on my part, I know), I had to resort to clones again and yet again I'm dealing with BS again.

I'm just going to keep a stash of seeds on hand from here out so I don't have to deal with anybody but the seed company and my friendly neighborhood postal worker. At least if I get mites then....it's my own damn fault.

Quoted for truth. When I used it, I suited up, used gloves, long sleeves, and mask as well as eye protection. Then I banned myself from the grow for 48 hours for each application.

Shit works wonders though and a little goes a very long way.

it was ZERO MITE's in its first incarnation and i dont remember why but the EPA had issues with this one. it had avid listed, in its pharmaceutical name abamectin? or ibamectin or soothing like that? anyway then round two started up with EPIC LEAF SHEILD, again i dont remember the catalyst to this one being pulled again but EPA was involved if memory serves me correct.

anyway the WIPEOUT is its 3rd incarnation, i heard they got full blown raided guns drawn this go round tho so idk.... I've also heard we might see a replacement for it by this summer too so who knows. either way it was just 99.9% water .08% essential oils and .02% avid.... give or take a bit.

I just bought some of it 2 days ago in auburn for $100. I asked them for their strongest stuff, because I had gone through 3 other tries with Neem, SNS, and Dr Doom and some were still moving!
That stuff gave me such a horrible headache, and I used a dustmask, and chemical gloves. Definitely need a respirator. I'm scared now, I used it in my basement.

i checked their website. It sounds like they probably had to pull it because of their claims on the label which are not true. They are marketing it like it is perfectly safe, and abamectin is a strong chemical that is harmful and shouldnt be used on flowering plants. I about passed out when i used it, it is hardly a "fresh aroma" lol.. When I worked at a law firm we represented a company that manufactured a lysol type cleaner, which got shut down by the EPA because of the difference between disinfectant and antibacterial claims.

why should i use wipeout?

zero harmful chemicals
immediate results
100% effective
non toxic
non burning
fresh aroma
trusted and proven

I've heard from enough reliable sources at this point that it was Avid (abamectin) that was the unlisted ingredient which is why it was pulled from shelves. I will still personally use it on my veg plants but not a damn chance in hell I will put that stuff on my flowering girls. I currently have azamax, mighty wash, and captain jack's dead bug (spinosad), so I hope with these 3 products, I will never have a need for the Wipeout. I will however keep it on hand for special circumstances and I will use the proper PPE to apply the stuff safely. In the future, I will be researching floramite since it kills both eggs and living mites but again, only in veg.

Since I'm only growing from seed from here out, jonny doesn't anticipate anymore infestations. I will also be locking down my grow room...nobody in, no pets in, COMPLETELY LOCKED DOWN. Change of clothes before entering and the whole 9 yards.
