Does anyone use one of these indoor/outdoor thermometers & hygrometers?

I'm trying to use one to regulate temperature so I can finally start my first grow. The probe (white wire) reports as "outdoor temp" and the unit itself reports as the "indoor temp", it's dual zone.

I noticed that the indoor & outdoor temp were never reporting the same temp, so I put both the probe & the unit under the lights. It's giving me 2 different temps about 10 degrees apart from one another. Does anyone know which is the accurate reading, or if this may be a defective unit?

Sounds defective. You should be able to exchange it for a new one.
The hydro stores sell these items for $20-$30. If you go to the home depot or lowes in your area you can get better ones for half the price.

Thanks, I just called Home Depot and found out that they have some mercury thermometers which is what I wanted in the first place. They must hide them real good because I didn't see any when I was there last, but the lady sais she has them so I guess they do. lol
