Does Drying/Curing have an easily detectable smell?

Ok so, its wayyyy before outdoor harvest, but i want to get my plans set now

can i cut down my plants and dry them in my closet (no one goes in there) with out anyone noticing the smell? im talking about even if they are in my room right next to my closet, its just normal mid grade weed(bag seed), so shouldnt be too strong in the first place, and i also only ended up with 3 females out of 9 so it will only be 3 plants, topped once a piece and all LST'ed

I have heard that while drying it has sort or a fresh cut grass smell and i have also heard the whole room will smell like straight pot, so idk what to believe

im in a i dont care just dont let me see it kind of situation, so im trying to do my best to keep it that way

i was just gona hang em outdoors somewhere near my grow site but i dont like the idea of my bud in the hot ass sun(feel like i would miss the right time to stop drying), or sitting out during hunting season

i have a few friends houses where i could just do this at no problem, but of course i would prefer it at my own house, so will smell be an issue? im really hoping its safe to do it in my closet

you will get a feel for your smell level when you r plants begin to bud. if they stink when they are budding its guna stank when your drying, if they seem to lack a pungent aroma then they prob wont smell as much while drying. its all strain dependent, some stank from a mile a way and some just smell earthy/green/mintish.

Chances are your entire house is going to reek like high heaven.

not chances it will, you will need a carbon filter or an ozone generator.

i wouldnt know yet first grow xD

plus considering my plants are outdoors i wont know how strong they are in an enclosed area :/

if youve only got a few plants you could make a drying box, that is what i plan on doing.

I am going to buy a 30-50 gallon rubbermaid tub and outfit it with a computer fan and a carbon scrubber then run strings to hang the buds on

low grade mids or fire ur house is gonna smell like weed

damn why didnt i think of that, theres one in my closet already actually, idk how the fan situation would work for me tho

if you can get a carbon filter, a fan to go with it, and build something sealed with an intake and the exaust going out through the carbon filter, you will be fine.
Otherwise there will be some sort of smell.

yeah im working on something like that, only issue is i need a silent fan xD

i think a fan running in my closet all day will be some what suspicious hahaha

also, can anyone give me some estimates on drying time? both indoor and outdoor, in case im forced to do it outside

a small 12v computer fan is nearly silent, alot of people use them for stealth closet grow boxes

you can just leave a radio playing very quietly to some music that isnt obnoxious to other people in your house and nobody will notice the fan
