Does it affect the the plant when you leave the stem of the leaf. Reason i ask is because i use

I've heard cutting them down into the bud could cause bud rot, so I usually leave a decent stump and remove them after they dry. I don't know if the bud rot theory is true or not, but I don't like to tempt disaster.
Beyond the minimal sap bled being insect bait, I see no cause of bud rot being induced.

And the stump leaves a longer path for pathogens to travel to the stem. Dry long before they can move that far.

Bud rot from cutting with scissors? Maybe with contaminated scissors?
Botrytis needs dead or dying bud to grow. Thats usually chewed leaves and stem and caterpillars feces (the stuff that looks like black pepper?) in outdoors and some deps or a fertilizer burn, causing necrosis and moisture issues indoors. Never seen or heard of scissors related botrytis. Could be a thing, but I'm thinking not likely.

I don't know why you would molest the bud with scissors while its flowering? Fan leaves at nodes yeah get rid of them, big leaf in colas....only at harvest and they only come off by hand, no wet trimming with machines and its mostly the leaf not leaf and stem that comes off

Cause I'm a butcher and I grow monsters. And how many 10 footers can you hand trim before your hands are mittens? LOL. Big world out here.

I spap off downwards righ up to stem, never attracted any bugs to mine. Or had bad reactions, if using scissors i cut close.

Evey year I big leaf 2 dep 2 harvests in 2 greenhouses. And 48 full term 8+ footers, they are taller than the 10' bamboo stakes in the 6x6x2 foot beds. With these I can start big leafing before harvest, before chopping with 2 other grass monkeys. And yeah its 2-3 weeks, 4-6 hours a day. And yes brutal on the hands, which is one reason why I go thru many many boxes of gloves at harvest. I have never liked finger hash anyways.

Glad to hear. Just a retort here. And a poor way of saying our way is not the way for many.

I'll stick to scissors at harvest. Easier to grab a clean set from the acetone jar than wash your hand every branch. And gloves just bother me. I grow past maturity for amber to make hash. Way sticky mess. LOL.

6x6x2 is a very nice bed size, they must be gorgeous, l use 50g smartpots but have 2 4x4x2 resivoirs as pots and they get big in those.

Wish the thieves will let me get some mature outdoor this year.
