Does more iso=more oil??

Is iso a contributong factor to the yield??? My theory is more cannabis = more oil the iso is just extracting it...

there is def going to be a point where alcohol will be saturated to the point where it will not be able to absorb any more cannabinoids from the material. not likely youll get to that point tho, use enough to cover the bud and youll be fine.

short answer, no

Pretty much exactly what murder said. Too little iso could effect yield but more iso just equals more evap. I usually use about apint to an oz.

ya i gathered that haha. Every time i make it i tend to use only a litre of iso to about 2 oz of the bigger fan leaves that were trimmed off during harvest. Just seems i get the same amount every time even if i use a little more shake. I guess its because their isnt very much thc on those leaves

ISO boils around 170F but 99% will fully evaporate without heat or conventional purging and leave's the THC and it's friends in your glass.

Your "purging" to speed up the process and/or get the 5% water out.

Edit: I use the inch above the flower line rule. Works well, second wash only yields a percent or two.

ive always wondered this with butane though. is ther such thing as to much butane? considering that 99.99999% of it gets evaporated, and the remains after a 12 pack of butane are measured in parts per Billionth, not millionth.

there is a fine line where your quality starts to go down, and the quantity goes up. where you draw that line is what will impress people when theyre smoking the end product.

do you want quantity or quality?? ive seen guys pull 30-35% yields with iso runs from buds.... sure theyre pulling a lot of oil, but its a lot of unsmokable oil IMO as it tastes like shit. most the time you wanna smoke THC, not all that other junk with it adding that extra weight. the only time thats good is if you dont care about your body, cant afford it, or are a crooked oil seller.

gotta remember ISO is only 99%. whats that remaining 1%??? 1% of a gallon is 38 mls. thats a full shot glass worth of water and other shit.

Pull a vacuum on it and cold boil it at much lower temps.

IMO iso won't beat butane unless you don't mind getting the green/black stuff.
Just never forget to have a cold trap attached to your vacuum pump when your cold boiling solvents, you could very easily ruin your pump.

What i like to do with iso runs is do the evap with a fan blowing over dish in a cool low humidity room for 24-36 hrs. Scrape up powder then i've been putting that in vac chamber for 2 hours at 110° to do final purge. Usually get nice end result.

I've never really heard of someone vac purging after it's been scraped into powder, that's a pretty good idea.
I'm guessing when it's in powder like that it makes it infinitely easier to purge, am I right?
I usually heat my shatter on the dish, it makes it easier to scrape, so I don't get a bunch of powder stuck to my fingers.

Imo evap and purge are 2 different things. I feel that a natural evap removes 99% of the iso and the vac then purges any leftover. When scraping the powder i use a new cleaned razor blade held with a pair of vice grips to eliminate powdery fingers. I also do a slow steady pressure scrape to avoid sendind powder flying.
