There's a belief (true or not) that the genetics aren't great...that ruderalis brings negatives to the end quality, etc. I've heard some suggest that it's because early on in their availability there were quality/genetic issues, but since then there's a case that they've improved by breeders.

I did some Blue Dream Autos last summer, outdoors, that is the best weed I have ever produced. I am smoking some now. The smell is delightful, the smoke is smooth in a joint or a bong and the potency is up there. I grew it to be a cheap all day smoke, expecting it to be mild. But it really knocks you for six.
I love autos. The weather is very mild where I live and between the Spring Equinox and the start of Autumn you can get in two full runs of Autos in a poly tunnel. They really are plant and forget. I put them in some 3 imperial gallon pots with compost, perlite and manure. Water and LST them weekly and then feed them tomato food from the start of flowering. Once the first run starts flowering I can pop on another batch of seeds. The first lot will finish at the end of June and the second lot will finish around the end of August.
