does trimming speared leaves harm plant?

I am curious about this. If i have a 3 speared leaf and if i cut 1 spear off would it stunt growth or would it not really harm it at all?

the less leaf the less light gets synthesised.....

i woulden`t trim anything, think of the leaves as solar panels, sucking up all the light and good stuff when your plant is flowering she will shed her leaves she dosen`t want anymore
