Dog Fight!!! What would you do?

You're on a pathway in the park talking to another owner who has a 6 mth old puppy.

Suddenly a woman and a German Shepherd come around the corner and her dog starts chasing yours, trying to attack it.

What would you do? I know there's plenty of dog owners on this site. Let's hear it!

I'd kick the dog. Fuck it.

Urinate on the lady and her german shepard to show dominance.

I did act out but first I wanna hear what others would do.

My dog is very nice and gentle. Only if he was really cornered would he retaliate.

Mainly because Spanish can't educate their dogs and he runs from trouble.

i wasnt there so ic ant say but ive had dogs run to my dog and it was a happy experience,althought looked scary a running dog doesnt mean angry in this case im assuming the running dog was snarling and being aggressive?
if thats the case , not much you could do..
jumping infront of a vicious dog isnt exactly the brightest idea.
suppose putting yourself infront of your dog is an idea,

maybe carry some extra treats and throw them on the ground when another dog tries to attack your dog to distract it?
not exactly best idea but could distract the vicious dogs enough for the owner to stop them

Walk my dog elsewhere to avoid problems. Or sit around and complain about it on a message forum.

We're talking about an aggressive German shepherd and a pitbull. Not toddlers having tantrums distracted by sweets.

I'm fortunate that my dog doesn't really want to fight because if he fought back, who's fault would it be when he rips up the German shepherds face? It'll be MY fault, regardless of her dog starting it. I had a GSD and my money is on the pit.

I know dogs and this is typical pack hierarchy behaviour to assess who is the alpha male. Some dogs are so submissive they would just roll on their backs begging for mercy. Mine runs and then fights when cornered.

I'll complain thanks. My dog has every right to be there and running from this problem won't help. It'll just manifest in another park.

they have like these like ...remote control things that admit a loud noise to dogs..that stops them maybe try that??
like point it in the direction of the angry dog?

i mean aside from like protesting for better dog leash laws i dunno
you live somewhere, that seems dogs on leashes is like not really well enforced

Dogs fights happen quickly. Experienced owners can see when a situation is about to arise.

The dog bounds over aggressively with his hair up on his back. My dog bolts and the gsd sees this as 'he's winning the dominance match'. My dog is fast and starts running in circles to escape it. It's gnashing at him whilst chasing.

I called my dog within range, he's come near for protection but doesn't/can't stop running. My dog lead is chain, cord and rubber. I swung for her dog and missed. Second time I got him good. She's shouting at me and then I start raging. I went mental. I told her she does nothing? Doesn't call her dog or have control or education. Asked the puta where her lead and muzzle were.Told her I don't care and fronted it again but it had already backed off. I finished off by telling her I would use my chain on her dog again and to shut up and fuck off.

She wasn't too close (15M away) because she had already intended on walking through the trouble instead of stopping!!

There was no alternative. If my dog got cornered or hurt that wouldn't be the end of it. If her dog bit me I'd drag her out the park and report the dog to be destroyed.

The guy that I was chatting with said he'd witness for me if it came to anything. Next I see a guy I know with his pitbull and we left the park together. Ours play nicely until his tries to mount mine. He's got a lovely dog.

It's quite simple, if you have a dog that fights with other dogs it needs a muzzle at least.

Yes, I replied I'd rather complain thanks. You gave me two suggestions and I went for the latter.

The issue is clearly dog owners not handling rather than the dog itself. Its about education, not a particular dog bothering me.

mm i agree dog fights happen quick, and i have one in my building that snaps at thor all the time
unfortunately, i cant make the owner use a muzzle
so we as pet parents kinda have to use unconventional means of not letting this happen to our dogs since we cant control other pet parents

Well thats the funny thing. New laws dictate that all dogs must be on a 2m lead. All to be muzzled and kept on a lead on the metro now. However I have a 'dangerous breed' and German Shepherds are exempt from it. The easiest breed to train and I've not ever seen a good one in Spain yet. I had one and they should be on the list.

Her dog and my dog are both supposed to be leashed but it's in the park. Only vicious dogs are usually kept on tight control.

I can only think of 2-3 dog handlers in the park who do training with their dogs. It's appalling.

That's the thing Sunni, these pet parents go mental when their nasty dogs get their comeuppance!

what about the remote noise maker? i dont think they are super expensive it could work! never know unless you try

A lot of people try to restrain their own dog while it's being attacked, I think that's a bad idea. I used to run 5-7 miles a night with my lab and every so often another dog would come flying out of a yard and attack him. I'd let him run free and just start beating on the other dog. I was bit once but it was nothing major, if it would have latched on to me I'd be tearing it's balls off. After a few times I started caring a small knife for just in case.

Sounds kind of thuggish but why not carry a straight bladed knife so you can stab the shit out of any dog that may end up getting yours by the neck?

Buy a cat ....... They take them selfs for walks .
