That's very good. Dogs need interaction and socialisation. I took my dog to my friends weed club Greenage and he wasn't too interested in all the people but loved playing with balloons, without bursting them! Everyone was petting him, it's good practice. If I see a puppy in the street I make an effort to stop for a second.

Usually they turn out like their owners. Thor is nice and well mannered isn't he? Such as yourself. My dog is well behaved but can be a bit cheeky! :)

You made your statement clearly. Spanish people, yeesh.

I gave you suggestions as to what I would do. I didn't give you suggestions to choose one to pick.

hmm... well mannered when with me. walking no problem, he gets a bit distracted if someone passes us because he thinks everyone in the world should pay attention to him. but i dont mind, hes a dog if he stops and sits down because someone passed up and he wants to be pet no big deal.. its just a distraction but hes not bad about it

but if someone comes over its like ...hell on wheels.
but were working on it...he jumps on people and cant settle down, so were working on not jumping on people.
once he does stop jumping, he just paces the house like he cant settle down when someones here, it really annoys me LOL

his behavior is similar to a hyper small dog when someone is over, unfortunately hes like 75 lbs so it doesnt come off as cute but ..
hes come along way from when i got him from the pound. before he would play bite and he was like 1 years old, so i nipped that in the butt.
he also couldnt walk on leash before

work in progress , eventually he will be well mannered when people come over. that would be nice

speaking of crazy dogs, the lady downstairs b y the main door exit/entry in my apartment building has a nasty pitbull type dog
it attacks the door everytime me and thor walk by to go outside.

thor just wags his tail cause hes going outside and doesnt concern himself with it.
but that dog sounds gnarly man

You gave me suggestions regarding the future. 'What would you do?' is meant in the present tense, as if you personally are in that scenario.

When you wrote 'or' I assumed that depicted a choice.

You are right about it being the Spanish way. None of the dogs behave, it's awful. I can't imagine it's like that in the US.

You'd die of an aneurysm from stressing that something would happen to your dog because of neighbors unleashed dogs and street dogs. Luckily for me my pooch can take care of himself, dogs don't pick fights with him nor come close to smell him. The unfortunate ones that have approach him turn away like internet trolls who lost a typing match.

Stay away from the US.

I have big dogs that can defend themselves but either way I'm not getting in the middle. I'm not going to get bit because dogs are stupid. They can settle it themselves.

Dogs fights happen quickly. Experienced owners can see when a situation is about to arise. The dog bounds over aggressively with his hair up on his back. My dog bolts and the gsd sees this as 'he's winning the dominance match'. My dog is fast and starts running in circles to escape it. It's gnashing at him whilst chasing. I called my dog within range, he's come near for protection but doesn't/can't stop running. My dog lead is chain, cord and rubber. I swung for her dog and missed. Second time I got him good. She's shouting at me and then I start raging. I went mental. I told her she does nothing? Doesn't call her dog or have control or education. Asked the puta where her lead and muzzle were.Told her I don't care and fronted it again but it had already backed off. I finished off by telling her I would use my chain on her dog again and to shut up and fuck off. She wasn't too close (15M away) because she had already intended on walking through the trouble instead of stopping!! There was no alternative. If my dog got cornered or hurt that wouldn't be the end of it. If her dog bit me I'd drag her out the park and report the dog to be destroyed. The guy that I was chatting with said he'd witness for me if it came to anything. Next I see a guy I know with his pitbull and we left the park together. Ours play nicely until his tries to mount mine. He's got a lovely dog. It's quite simple, if you have a dog that fights with other dogs it needs a muzzle at least.

With you 100%, apart from reporting the dog to he destroyed. Not so cool.
Owners are the problem 99% of the time in my experience. Some dogs are genuinely untrainable killing machines, but with the right owner, one who either only walked it muzzled, leashed and where there was less chance of meeting loose dogs, it wouldn't exactly be a danger to anyone.

My pitbull was once attacked by another pit bull that jumped our fence to get to her. She took off half his left ear and nearly tore his throat open. It was a terrible mess. Outside of the house or off the property she is a very sweet dog. Was just protecting herself and her family( I was in the garden at the time). For your situation I would suggest a taser or maybe some mace. Fuck that other dog up next time.

You're on a pathway in the park talking to another owner who has a 6 mth old puppy.

Suddenly a woman and a German Shepherd come around the corner and her dog starts chasing yours, trying to attack it.

What would you do? I know there's plenty of dog owners on this site. Let's hear it! :)
Well I don't know what you should do... But your dog should do an Immelmann in order to get on the other dog's tail. That probably won't work but it will give him the initiative. Exactly what he should do next depends on the turning capabilities and power of the other dog, but I would suggest initiating a rolling scissors.

I know, it's a bold move for a young dog. If he fucks it up, he's toast. A lot of people would suggest something simpler - like a yo-yo. But, if he can pull it off, nobody will fuck with him ever again.

i wasnt there so ic ant say but ive had dogs run to my dog and it was a happy experience, althought looked scary a running dog doesnt mean angry in this case im assuming the running dog was snarling and being aggressive?
if thats the case , not much you could do..
jumping infront of a vicious dog isnt exactly the brightest idea.
suppose putting yourself infront of your dog is an idea,

maybe carry some extra treats and throw them on the ground when another dog tries to attack your dog to distract it?
not exactly best idea but could distract the vicious dogs enough for the owner to stop them
Sorry Sunni, but the last paragraph there is a terrible idea! If you give a aggressive dog a treat when he is trying to attack another dog that is just rewarding him. He will soon learn that if he wants a treat all he has to do is attack another dog.

Dog owners remember whenever you give your dog a treat and or affection you are rewarding his/her behavior. So only give the dog a treat if he/she is doing something Good such as listening to your commands.

i know its not a good idea, but it could stop her dog form getting hurt if she uses a distraction method to break the current issue through nose senses

one time isnt going to make them want to do it over again
even if it did , not lahadas problem cause it isnt her dog.

First, skip the "dog park", as they are for TARDS'. Period.

You yourself wrote...
I can only think of 2-3 dog handlers in the park who do training with their dogs. It's appalling.
...so you are aware of the problem.

So why go?

"Dog parks" are not only a haven for retarded clueless owners and their untrained mongrels, but they're also a haven for untreated / undiagnosed canine maladies that get passed along via "play", ingesting contaminated feces, fights, or whatever. I wouldn't EVER bring my dogs to those places as they're basically canine cesspools.

Second, if you want your dog not to fight other dogs, it's going to have to have confidence in you as a leader and protector. That means you have to step in and resolve aggressive situations BEFORE the other dog can get to your dog, which isn't too much of a challenge with most pet dogs. If you don't have the physical bearing or composition to impose yourself between two dogs, then ALWAYS walk with a big ass "walking stick" and use it to steer away / beat the shit out of any aggressive pet dog that comes your way. When your dog sees, and realizes, that YOU are the one that will "take care of business", they will defer to YOU when other dogs show some aggression.

Lastly, a fairly safe option to break up a dog fight is simply to grab the aggressive dog by the rear legs, spread them apart, and while pulling the dog off the "victim" dog, swing the little guy in a circle so he can't simply turn around and bite you. TWO people are preferred for this technique, one for each dog, but you can usually manage it alone in a pinch. If you find a dog not wanting to release a bite grip, a knuckle punch to the asshole is usually enough to make the dog refocus and release the bite. Make sure you have a plan for what you're going to do with the dogs when you DO pull them apart, be it a boot to their ass, or whatever.

Best of luck to you and your dog, regardless.

Yup let them fight......... maybe get a kick in or two or 3.......he he he.Nobody likes dog fights except Mike Vick but sometimes shit happens.I use a breaking stick when my pits fight but they know me and wont bite me so a strangers dog is a whole different thing. And last, the comment about punching a dog in the asshole to break up a fight is funny but wont work on more aggressive breeds, but was funny picturing it lol.
