Just had a minute and have seen and refered in posts about how mylar is exspensive or where to get it and why no aliminum foil. Well Basicallly when money is tight or no place else to try got to the local Dollar Store and go to the gift wrapping paper section and look for a paper called polywrap. It gonna be colored on the outside.I have seen green, pink, blue, red, gold, and orange but the back is pure uncolored mylar.The front just has a pretty color film on it. Its a buck a rol and is roughly 3 feet wide by 15-20 feet long per roll for 1 dollar. Hers a few quick picks showing some.Shows the roll and a piece next to it showing the colored front face and then flipped showing clean shiny mylar..Thinner then regular mylar but worth the buck for sure.

i just spent $13 for a 45ft long by 4ft wide.
how much is on the wrapping paper, cause i ran out while doing my room and i dont wanna wait for it to be shipped.

a filthy (example)if there were a 400w hps in a room with wall to wall mylar would it need a reflector?

@ issues with those.They are real thin and dont reflect much light testing shows about 50% reflectivity and its no real mylar.They are also thermal blankets so they hold and reflect heat making your areas hotter also

Mylar is somewhat better than flat white paint, but not amazingly so. If, like me, you have a hard time installing the stuff neatly, then it may not be worth the hassle. Also harder to sterilize/wipe down than painted walls w/o damaging the material.

Just my $0.02 on mylar. Plenty of people swear by the stuff and use it everywhere.

yeah...mylar is hard as craps to sterilize/clean...thats mainly why I just stick with the flat white. Filthy, Is thickness in the shower curtains going to make or break their effectiveness? Seems like 1-2mil actually lets a lot of light pass through it and thusly it no get reflected.

I found a place that sells mylar at the same thickness and durability as panda film. It's a good option, and not that much more expensive. Just thought, I'd say.

The thicker the material the less light gets through so its more reflective when its thicker.I like white walls myself as it is easy enough but mylar can help. Its easy to put up nice and smooth just get a can of spray contact adhesive and a squegee or rolling pin and make its nice and smooth then its easy to clean with glass cleaner and a paper towel if it gets dirty or water spotted

Sorry, I saw it in "reality" at my local store. There is lots of great stuff in the tangible world (I saw a wooden cigar store Indian today, keen!).

Anyway, the spray adhesive thing is a good idea. Although getting it off without shredding might get tricky if you ever had to. Might be a better plan for the interior of a cabinet, or a false wall-front than a permanent wall. Like, spray-adhesive on foamcore boards, squeege on the mylar, and then finish nails to hold the panels to the wall. Or velcro. I like velcro........

That could actually be very convenient. Removable, easily cleanable, replaceable, movable panels.....

If you're using a room you might as well just paint the walls flat white. Its nice and clean, not a bunch of shit taped to the wall to fall down.

why would you tape the mylar to a grow room wall would be my question? I prefer to use flat white paint in drywalled rooms or if I build a room I use white foam board 1 inch or 2 inch thick or panada film is great
