If you are thinking of starting your own grow for the new Canadian MMPR don't waste your time. There are a limited number of patients who are going to buy legally. The companies that are set up to grow, are huge and are expecting to sell all of their product for top dollar. As more and more growers set up to sell to these same customers, there will be a glut of product for sale. You can only store dried product based on what your license is for. A small grower will be storing only up to 5 lbs. in a small locked up vault. The next level is up to 55 lbs. and you have to keep it locked in a vault that you must build to speck. Initially you will have to set this all up ( Vault, security, monitoring stations,personnel, equipment, ticketed Quality assurance person, dispensary and a security cleared person to fill orders and keep records. ) before you get your license. You can apply first, but every thing must be in place before you get licensed. You have to spend all the money first to set up. You can grow all you want, but if you can't sell it right away then you have to store it in your vault. Based on what you are licensed for, and you can only sell to legal patients, and they are very limited to the amount of product that will be available for sale. The Harper govt. is also making it harder for people to become new patients. You have to try all other methods of drugs (pharmaceutical) before the doctor can prescribe Marijuana for your ailment, so most of them will be reluctant to prescribe marihuana for you. So the limited market of patients will remain the same for some time.
While there is a huge market out there for weed you will not be able to sell your product to them, as in the past when it was easy to sell to your friends and neighbors.So unless you are willing to sell at a lower cost, it will sit in your expensive vault and you will have to shut your grow down until you sell your product from your website that you will have to set up and operate. When you lower your price everyone else will also lower their price or theirs will sit in their vault. After it sits in the vault for a year it will be outdated and you must destroy it. You can not even smoke it yourself as it all has to be accounted for ( every gram.) It all looks good on paper and you can see the $$$$ in it but that is not the reality of it. There will be thousands of people applying for licenses and lots of people will get them because if you do every thing right they can not refuse you a license ( it is in the regulations) So with thousands of growers and i think as of right now about 30,000 legal patients that can only at a max, get 3 ounces a month each, do you really want to spend all that money to set up,and end up in a price war. Don't forget that a lot of those patients are going to get it some where else because the big companies are selling for $225 an ounce and at that price $675 a month who can afford that. Those patients are going to buy from some one that they know where they can get 4 ounces for $400 and sell half to their friends and get their own for free or a heck of a lot cheaper than $675 a month.
