Doubling Exhaust fan

Picking up Exhaust fan for new project, need quite big one - over 3000 CFM. I've got a stupid question, if I buy two fans that are 1500 CFM, will they produce equal amount of air from as an 3000 CFM fan? Cos I see only benefits, price is much better if buying two smaller units, also electricity use will be around 20-30% smaller? Am I missing something?

Parallel or series?

beware your passive intake should probably be at least 3x bigger than the exhaust area otherwise they may fight each other (unless they're separate chambers)
If you are using intake filters, the intake filter should be at leastdouble the size of the intake hole

the smaller fans sometimes have higher CFM per watt. This is what you should look at, to ultimately make a decision. Keep in mind though the rule of passive intake

Make sure your intake is large enough or they will fight each other and you’ll actually pull less than the one 1500 cfm fan. Watch your louvers if they are flexing up and down your fans are combating each other. If your louvers are still and steady and don’t adjust when you turn one or the other off then they are working in sync with each other. It will just take a little adjusting but you can make them work to get 3000 cfm
