I can't picture your set-up, how the hell are roots growing into your resevoir....DWC? Aeroponics? wtf? My brain is usually pretty fresh at this hour (5:30 a.m.). But I have been smoking since I got up an hour ago and I did go to bed at 10 which is a couple hours late for this Old man....so maybe I am just brain-farting......

Its a NFT system, so my roots have grown so long they have went over the edge of the tray where the water flows back into the tank and now are in the water as i said before.

???? I have no idea what you have going on, But if you want alternatives try sucking the water out, shop-vac, siphon....
or you could drill a hole in your res.. that would empty it for sure...

A Hand Bilge Pump as pictured here is available at plumbing/irrigation supply houses. HD and lowes may also carry them. Its a 2" diameter so you don't need much space to access the res.
