Drying Humidity Question

Still probably 4.5-5 weeks out from chopping down, but I always like to plan ahead. I'm growing in a 39x39x79 tent, 6 DJ BB under a 600w HPS. Grow is going fantastic, especially given it's my first grow.

I'm starting to think about how to dry. I'm going to hang the entire plant without cutting any leaves, I want as slow a dry as possible. My only issue is that the RH in my room is 30-35%. From what I've read I'm looking to dry around 50% RH correct? My plan was to have a fan in the tent, with my exhaust fan running once every hour for 15 minutes each cycle. Obviously I'll tinker with that depending on whether or not the RH gets too high or too low. I'm assuming the RH in my tent will rise substantially without the exhaust fan on continually. Thoughts?

It sounds like you don't need help. You already know the most important bit, long dry-time. It's the simplest way to get smokable buds, even if you fail curing it will be "OK". The thing is, a lot of people think they cure pot, I believed I did - until I finally succeeded. It was like "WTF, I want to smoke more because of the taste!". Instead of "great, no coughing, nice ash".

So, how do you cure? What were you doing before that wasn't curing?

I put dry buds in mason jars and open them every day for 10 minutes and do that for a month. Then I continue to open them every few days for as long as I remember which is about another month.

for the first five days will be easy to keep rh up and conrol via out fan.just get a hygrometer you can read with out having to keep opening the tent .
i like rh at 70 for first 2 days then 50-55 after that for about 4 - 5 days temps no higher than 80 to help ease the oils out . any higher will damage the flavour and taste slightly false dried. your better off drying slowly and waiting that couple of extra days ( trust me made this mistake year after year)

Cool thanks for the advice. My only concern is the low native RH in my room at about 30-35% but I guess that won't be an issue. Once my RH in the tent starts creeping below 50%, would it be advisable to add a few tupperware's of water in to increase humidity or is that too risky moldwise?

I don't know where this is coming from. I dry buds just fine in humidity in the 30s. The danger of drying too fast (which pretty much requires something artificial) is that the buds are still wet on the inside and curing is not done properly leading to mold. I see no evidence that stretching out drying time by artificial means accomplished anything other than maybe being protection against curing done wrong.
