Drying? Too dry already??

I hung my girls 3 days ago and the buds are already so dry they're brittle and break in your hand, yet the stems still just bend. I pulled a little off and tried it out and it has a very strong odor (not like any I've smelled before) and has a pretty harsh taste. What's wrong? Will curing make them that much better? I flushed and used just water for the last couple weeks. By the time I harvested they were so nutrient deprived all the leaves had yellowed and were falling off.

i just harvested....i hung the buds for about 3 days...and they weren't rally drying at all so i kinda said fuck it and put a dehu. in there for a day...bud was dry...i took it down but it wasn't compressed at all...strong oder and i'll mess ya up but the buds look like shit and all lose. so i can't help you but i feel ya.

put themin a paper bag and re package them every 12 hours this preents mold and evenly distributes the moisture to make for a smoother smoke after u put them i jars

Don't worry you are good, its time to transfer them to containers (jars, tupperware, ect) to allow the moisture still in the center of the bud to re-distribute. Open you containers and turn the buds a couple times a day, if the get really moist again in the containers hang dry them a little more and then put them back.

When you put them in the preffered glass jars open the jars every 3-4hours for 10minutes. This will allow your buds to cure evenly, and make the smoke less harsh, and make them more potent, and if stored in jars once cure is finished the buds will get even better with age. Make sure you don't leave them in the jars for extended pereiods of time or they may catch mold, or fungus due to the warm moist enviroment.

i'm gonna harvest a week before thanksgiving and then take off for 5 days, what can i do to cure them without me being there for 5 days? anybody ever have any luck with those airtight air sucker outter things? can i just keep em in that while i'm gone without worrying about mold or whateveR?

cut them the day or two before you leave, you dont wanna be curing them while you are not there, but you could hang dry them, but then i was paranoid everytime i left for the day with a whole HP hanging and shit, i dont know, i woyuld cut them the day before you leave and let the,m dry over the time you are gone on vacay.

This is the point when you want to put your buds into brown bags. Check them maybe twice daily. You'll want to turn them over once a day also. Be sure not to over fill the bags, this can make too much moisture and not enough air. If after a day or two they feel too moist remove them from the bags and re hang.

yeh make sure u check the buds every 12 hours atleast, and btw lastbucsfan CAROLINA IS TAKING THE DIVISION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
lol but ur not the only 1 all my friends are bucs fans (it gonna b funny crackin on them when we beat yall next week)

i had my plant upside down in the bathroom for 7 days and the fan on at all time and today striped the buds from the branches and planced them in jars, this was from my outdoor grow,now do i have to open the jars every few hours or can i just leave it couse i dont see any moisture on the glass,and the buds where almost crisp when i placed them in

yeh open them every few hours and reorganize the buds to prevent mold and let them "burp" but i suggest going thru the brown paper bag phase first

between the hanging and jarring brown paper bags can be used to help slow down the drying process even further, giving you nicer tasting buds!! i usually hang for 2-3 days (varies depending on climate...) then brown bag a few inches deep with the tops folded loosely (so some air can get in). the bud in the bags will be checked a couple times a day and rotated. this usually lasts around 5-7 days then when the stalks snap i put them into jars and 'burp' them for 10mins afew times a day (usually when i pass the jar and can't resist a quick sniff) ill leave them in the jars for as long as i can resist them SMOKE!!

for how long do u have to open the jars 2-3 times a day.after 10 days can u open every 3 days or something like that.is there a point in curing when u can recognize that the buds reached their peak and then can leave it in the frige or some other place

LOL we'll see about that. Bucs are going to break the NFC South curse of never being able to win division two years in a row! I have a good feeling about Jeff Garcia possibly starting again.

like i said b4, FUCK THOSE R SOME NICE LOOKIN PLANTS!!
but believe we've got the div wrapped up, we've got a thunder and lighting type backfield, a sturdy QB two WR capable of making a big play anytime, a young but impressive o line (even though our two Offensive tackles are out) a a d-line with lots of potential anchored by julius peppers and a proven secondary, so we'll just prive that 2 yall next week lol (srry bout the rant i'm a complete footbasll head)

Some people will only open them once per day after the first 7 days of the cure...so you can open them every 4 hours for 10 minutes at a time for the first 7 days, then for the next week open the jars once per day for 10minutes, then open the jars for 10 minutes at the end of the 3rd week. Chechk them, and you can store them in a cool dry place in the jars...keeping air away from them will preserve them, and will make them EVEN better months down the road. If your planning on storing them in the fridge I would advise against it...but if you do atleast place a piece of cardbourd in with the jar to remove a small amount of moisture that may form due to being in the fridge.
