Drying

Should I trim off all fan leaves and just leave sugar leaves when drying? Also last time I dried I left all sugar leaves on and humidity was at 60 percent and 65 to 70 degrees. I had no fan circulation whatsoever and it took more than 14 days to dry. When. I put them in the jars the weed was spongy but not wet. Well something went terribly wrong because the smell is god awful. I'm thinking mold possibly, even though I inspected the flowers and did not see any mold, kinda weird. This time I have air circulation the dry room but I do not want to encounter the terrible smell again after jarring. Any tips on proper drying would be greatly appreciated.

I put an inexpensive humidity meter in the jar with the freshly dried cannabis. I check it next day. RH in the jar has always increased and the cannabis needs more drying outside the jar. I believe the only way to make curing near perfect and easy is to using a drying chamber.

Simple, weigh it. Pick a couple nice cuts and weigh them every day. When they stop losing weight you can jar them.

I have little humidy meter I stuck inside the jar and it was steady at 60 percent. I should note that I harvested way too early at 8 weeks. I'm thinking there's nothing I could of done at that point.

Maybe your meter is malfunctioning? Kerowacked has a great suggestion!

Yes and no, temp, humidity, size of buds are all variables. That’s why i weigh a couple nice cuttings from each plant. They lose 25-30% in the first day but its parabolic and slows down. Once its dry enough to jar it stops losing water weight, then in the jars the oils cure in the bud at about 60-65% rH.
