Hello and welcome to my grow. I am starting this mainly because while researching info on duckfoot strain I found little to no information about it. I hope my journal might be able to help others growing this strain,or I can gain more info from others who have grown it.

Anyway here are the things I have learned about duckfoot.

1. It is a slow growing plant. I first attempted to grow it SOG style. Rooted clone str8 to 12/12 in an ebb&flow set up. not a good idea...lol, although it goes against SOG rules, you have to veg this for atleast a month. So I opted to harvest once every 60 days. I cut clones from the moms for the next grow, just as the vegged clones are entering the flower room. This gives me 2 weeks to get roots and start vegging, it also gives me some extra time in case I have any problems.

2. Although it requires a long veg time, this strain flowers almost as soon as introduced to a 12/12 cycle. Usually within 7days.

3. Unlike other plants I've grown, duckfoot doesent stretch much when switched to flower. I'm not sure why, I can only guess its because it starts flowering quickly.
I veg them till 20" and the end up 25"-30". I don't think they could get the 2x-3x some ppl get when switched.

4. They do like to grow alot of branches and will turn into a bush with little training. I on the other hand am trying to lollypop them...lol, I love a good fight.
No, I just train them that way because of my room size. I may let them go wild this time. I have removed bottom branches till now ,but we will see once I put them into the flower room, what direction I will take.

5. From all I have read, these are not good for indoor. But as I mentioned b4, I love a good fight. I think if you can grow it outdoors, should be able to grow it indoors. This is my 3rd. go around with duckfoot indoors,so its still a learning process.

6. Contrary to what I have read about duckfoot, mine are light feeders and sensitive to nutes. I have had them burn at 1/2 strength feedings.

Should also mention this is my first go with the hempys.

I hope to transplant 2nite. This will be there new home for the next 2 months. I arranged the 2gal. waste baskets in a 4x4 area, under 1000 watt HPS. 1.5 hempys.jpgnew home 1.jpgnew home 2.jpg I did put hydroton in the bottom of basket for weight, and to give the roots something to anchor to,but we will still call it 100% perlite grow...lol.

So the break down goes like this.

1. strain---duckfoot.
2. 24 plants.
3. vegged 4 weeks, under 250watt. MH, using GH 3 part flora series.1-1-1 mix,@ 1/4 strength
4. flowered in 6x9 room,in 4x4 area, under 1000watt. HPS , GH 3part,cali mag, silica blast, H2o2. nutes and additives used at 1/4 strength to start.
5. 2gal. hempy waste baskets. hydroton in bottom 2" , 100% perlite.

More details to come. Cant think of anything else right now.

Feel free to ask questions, or let me know if you have grown duckfoot. Were your finding different then mine.

awesome cant wait to see how this turns out. im slowly making the transition from soil to hydro but getting things together such as meters and making all the calculations before i jump in. any advice on the gh nutes? would you recommend them?

I have always used GH nutes. I guess I would recommend them, alot of ppl use GH with the lucus formula. As far as advice on using them,I would say don't start off with there feeding schedule. At a minimum start with half strength and see how your plants react. I am going to try a bloom booster on this run. pk 13/14 if I can get it from my shop.

Fantastic ... lots of interest on this one. Subbed.
Thanks glad to have you here. Hope I dont disappoint, my last runs of this in the flood tables had some issues. Results where disappointing only achieved 10 1/2 oz's. under 1000watts.

Duckfoot is a strain I want to grow, I've had the smoke grown in Hawaii, and it made me stupid, a nice closer. A friend gifted me with around 100 random seeds from big island grows, and was told that there is some duckfoot in the mix, haven't seen any yet.

Mind if I ask how you got your seeds?

I wish I could help you with the seed question. It is all clone where I live. Not to give to much info as to my location. But duckfoot has been in northern NY for as long as I can remember. I'm in my 40's and my dad used to grow DF when he was in his 20's....lol, Its just really available up here in the Adirondack mountains, and St.laurance river valley in NY.

As far as the smoke goes your right it will really stick your dick in the dirt, I hope to show how frosty this shit gets when its done.
I think the only down fall is its smell. I know everybody brags about how much there weed smells, but until you have dealt with DF I would be wasting my breath trying to explain it. Its completely impossible to try and carry even a gram on you. has to be stored in mason jars with rubber gaskets for sure. Last comment about it,but I swear to god I wear a 2xfilter respirator when I trim it. Its like cutting up onions and makes me nauseous.

Well I have to laugh a bit, I watered the hempy and found the #4 drains faster then I expected, its like using hydroton. I did one empty bucket so I could judge what the 2" rez was going to hold. I let it sit for about an hour, then dumped it out and was surprised at the moisture I found. I can only guess once I have a feeding plant in there, I will end up watering at least 1x a day.

My 16oz. cups only had to water every other day, but it was just regular perlite. Not super course like I have in the buckets now. The regular perlite seems to hold moisture better. Well I will find out as this continues.

If anyone else has done the course #4 stuff let me know. would love to hear about your watering and feed schedules.

Just checking in not much to report. The girls look a bit sad and droppy still. waiting for them to hit the rez,I am giving them each about 10oz of water per day until I see they have hit the rez. When they perk up I'll snap some pics.

Do you have a mister/sprayer bottle. It would certainly benefit the plants greatly. As you know, the drooping is excessive transpiration through the leaves, a couple of mists a day is all it would take to see them perk up. ..... This too, will benefit the downward migration of roots.

Thank you, I will try this right now. I will get some pics up 2nite. I havent done anything different from when they where in solo cups. The environmental conditions are the same. But the plants really seemed to have gotten stressed from the transplant. Can't figure it out. The leaf stems have purpled, the leaves are going yellow from the edges inward on the older leaves and new growth is light green. The leaves are still soft and have a good healthy feel to them, but there not smooth like the older growth, they look wavy or rippled and raised on there surface. Hard to explain, but pics will be up soon.

Be back in a bit.

Transplanted this morning and also put in a new bulb.View attachment 2504726
When you transplanted, did you place the rootzone at the bottom of the bucket, near the res? .. This would have been the best.

I ask because I can see your plants have quite a stem on them. I might have chosen to bury the stem a bit more. .... Is it possible some of your current issues are because the roots have not hit the res yet?

Keep misting them, check your ventilation is adequate. .....next time in the garden-shop, consider buying 'seaweed extract'. IMO every gardener should have it as a foliar spray.

Thank you moebius, I wanted to plant deeper, but stopped myself, because I thought I could grow a larger root system if I planted higher in the pot. I do think it is because they havent hit the rez yet. But wanted someone elses opinion on the matter. The only thing I have done different is put them under the 1000watt hps.
I will post pics later 2nite so as to show there condition more accurately. But heres a run down of growing info so far.

GH 3 part mixed 5ml/gal, using mild veg formula until they are a bit bigger. 5ml M,G,B per gallon.

tap water-- start at 0.1 EC and Ph of 7.5 after mix and set to stabilize overnight EC= 1.8 Ph= 6.9 add 5ml of ph.down to 5gallon mix. 4hours later ph=6.3 ,

so thats what i've been using to feed/water EC 1.8 Ph 6.3 .

Room is 70 deg.F stable, RH is 40%, 6x9 room is exhausted every 2hrs for 15mins with a 100 cfm fan. oscillating 12 inch fan on 24/7,as well as small 8inch floor fan.

Running 1000watt hps 24/7 for now. 20 inches above canopy right now ,want it lower but want to let plants recover b4 blasting them to badly.

Thanks again, and stop by tonight or tomorrow 4 pics. I know once I get them settled in I'll get the hang of hempy growing.

I am going to hydro store tomorrow, will pick up some seaweed extract and start spraying. I just a free sample of floralicious plus. says it has 20% sea kelp, 2% humic acids. along with ammonium nitrate, iron veg protein hydrolysate, potassium sulphate. its NPK is 2-0.8-0.02, says it can be used as a foliar spray. or should i just wait and get seaweed extract?
