dwc 5 plant bucket.. Is my setup optimal?

I started me a hydroponic setup with 5 plants in a 10 gallon bucket for Dwc. I'm using the bubbler system where my plants roots are constantly sitting in my oxygenated nutrient solution. So far I have planted all of my plants in rockwool and burried the rockwool in hydroton and I have been top feeding them with my nutrient solution once every couple days (I want to do this for about a week until all of my roots come out of the bottom of my netpots). Anyway I guess my question is is my setup optimal? And are my plants ok being put in the hydroton so early? They range from 2-10 days. Help would be appreciated

They'll be perfectly fine as long at the stem isn't being smashed. I usually start off with enough hydroton to support the stem and every week I put more in until the net pot is full and my plants are big enough

My stems are fine I just burried them around the hydroton

Unless you intend to use that setup for veg only, and a short veg period at that, you're gonna run outta space REAL quick. A 10 gallon bucket is more suitable to 1...MAYBE 2 plants, depending. Especially from seed...If you were running clones, and flowering right away, you might be able to get away with 5 plants in there for a mini sog.

Yea I saw a setup similar to this one but they only had a 2 plant set up and got like a lb from each plant but i don't think I want them to get that big. I was thinking maybe 3-4 oz a plant. Does that sound realistic for this setup?

No. I mean, yes, but from one plant, vegged thoroughly and trained. A lb per plant in that setup, so 2 lbs out of a 10 gallon DWC with 2 plants in it? I find that hard to believe, and would like to see that. Not saying it's not possible, just that it would take a long veg period, lots of training, and plenty of light.

I feel like this is your first grow. Don't think about how many ounces you're gonna harvest...The old saying "don't count your chickens before they hatch" could not be truer for any other hobby...Many first time growers don't even pull a harvest off their first time trying to grow. Concentrate on growing healthy plants, and keeping them healthy throughout their entire lifespan, and you will be rewarded at the end. But do NOT start fantasizing about what you're going to do with the money you make from selling the harvest you haven't pulled yet. (Not saying you're gonna sell it, cause that would be wrong Just an example)

Lol I understand and no it wasn't the setup that I ha exactly that pulled two lbs it was my setup with only 2 plants. And he vegged them both for like 2 months under 1000w mh lights and then flowered them for like 3 months

You should be good for 7 weeks of vegetation in the 10 gallon, 5 pot DWC system is my educated guess. Then you need to determine which are the healthy females.

5 pot DWC. I get that. Hope we both get the info we need. Here is a picture of the current state. First time growing is so stressful. Anything encouraging or helpful that is exactly what I need. Specifically Led, Nutrients, and DWC related. Thank everyone in advance and happy growing.

Nice setup. I'm using flouros right now in a little room that I setup myself but I'm getting a 600w Mh/hps light next week. Figured I'd let my plants grow a couple weeks before I stick em on the big lights. As far as nutes I'm using the gh flora performance pack and my plants are loving it. Growing hella fast and I'm not having any problems yet. I'll keep you guys updated tho

can't believe you don't have algae yet with light streaming through that thin blue tote. needs to be 100% light proof, and I suggest you use Aquashield and tap water conditioner (if using tap water) unless you can keep it below 70° F. Root issues are common in DWC because of light leaks, warm temps, and/or not using anything to prevent slime blooms.

I like your idea though... I have been flowering 12 plants in a black 4' x 4' 100 gallon res for a few cycles now.

Is hydroguard good against algae growth or do you recommend brewing your own tea? My tote is blue but no light can enter.

I know my blue tote appears opaque in the above photo, but its totally dark blue to block all light. Are there any Youtubers here? I'm considering starting a small grow channel. This shit is fucking exciting and I want to share all my fuck ups haha!! First time, woot!

Personally I only suggest Aquashield because it is the only one that hasn't failed me, but I haven't tried a lot of products. Pretty much found out about Aquashield pretty early on from dudes that used to post here, and haven't strayed much from it.

I have bubbled tea a few times, but it has failed me before, and isn't as simple as dosing the res with Aquashield once a week. I used mycogrow soluble, alaskan ancient forest humus, and unsulfured blackstrapped molasses.

Pond-zyme has never failed me unless water temps get ridiculous... it's cheap as fuck and can get it at petsmart / petco... but I'm not a fan of the barley flakes.

I really haven't used anything else so I can't recommend anything else. I'm sure there are other products that work, but I haven't had a need to try.

yea you will want to use it always as prevention... nutes don't do anything for slime control.

I have read some people say the salts in nutes will sterilize your res or bennies... but they are wrong. Maybe if you run 1600 ppm...

how are your rez temps? root rot loves 80degree and up rez'
