HELP!
Overview:
1. Curling crispy looking tips, yellowing leaves, and browning on the edges.
2. Clones may have been left in high pH nutrients sitting in a tray (due to bad pH meter). Water was then changed to plain pH balanced water for 24hrs.
3. Clones are now in 280ppm DWC unit, continuing to brown/curl, also looking droopy. Water is RO-filtered, but TDS meter says it's 80ppm as it comes out of the filter.
4. Water level in DWC is 1.5" below pots, Rockwool is 1.5" above bottom of pots. Rockwool cannot be raised as the top is already flush with the top of the pot (barely covered in Hydroton).
5. Temps are only around 70º-73º. My light is 600W MH and 24" from plants.
6. I've been spraying them with diluted Neet oil once daily because there's a lot of gnats in my neighborhood.
Details:
I just purchased some beautiful looking well-rooted clones the other day for my first grow, but now after three days in my care they're already looking sickly.
For the first two days I had them sitting in a tray while I got everything set up in my closet. They started to get burned looking tips that were curling upward, turning light green/yellow, and getting some brown spots along the edges of the leaves.
I couldn't figure out what was going on because as far as I could tell, all of my levels were good, but that's when I started to question the accuracy of my cheapo $80 pH/tds/temp meter from eBay.
I used a liquid pH test and found that my nutrient solution may have been in the mid-6's. When I tried to re-calibrate my meter it started telling me that my 7.0 calib solution was 2.0, and wouldn't allow me to adjust it with the screw to be calibrated.
I figured this was an issue of lockout because of high pH nutes, so I replaced them with plain pH balanced water for a day (while still in the tray).
Yesterday, they still weren't looking very good, and a couple roots poking out the bottom appeared to be getting a little brown... So I decided to drop them into my DWC system to get some O2.
My nutrient solution is currently at around 280ppm, although I'm starting to wonder if the TDS part of my meter is fucking up as well.
My new problem appears that my rockwool may be too low in my netted pots. It's only an inch and a half from the bottom of the pot, which is only an inch and a half above the water line. Because they're 3" cubes they can't be raised further as there's barely any hydroton covering the top of them.
Do they look over-watered to anyone? They look a little droopy to me, but the leaves feel kind of dry; I'll be lowering the water level soon.
