DWC Nute Questions and thought Help from someone with experience

I give 5tsp of big bloom for 4 1/2gallon res. I change the water and nutes every week. I have noticed that after i change the water they grow like crazy for 3 days the growth seems to stop. Could the plants be using all the nutes in three days? Should i feed twice a week? Some of the leaves have a slight curl so im kind of iffy on adding more nuts. Im bout to hit week 6 of flowering and would reall hate to kill my gals Feedback would be awesome

Any info on ph? If it's ph, maybe the ph when you add the nutes is 5.8 but it rises over the week and you're not aware of it.

Well.. instead of asking questions did you note the start ppm and the rise/fall over the three day period? How about the PH? I mean it is simple to deduce what they need by looking and keeping track of your nutes and comparing.

he is right. i started growing using dwc and i always had a piece of paper taped to the wall so i could write down ppm and ph readings. makes it real easy when you have that info to refer to.

How do you figure ppm? 1st timer grower so im kinda winging the ph thing. i know its around 6.4 with fresh water

a ppm meter. ph should be 5.8

Any ideas on methods of heating nutrient temps I live in AK and my nutes are dipping below 60 degrees I was thinking of a aquarium heater or reptile mat but I don't think the thermostat on these has a low enough setting.

the only time( out of a shitload) that i lost a single clone was when i thought i needed an aquarium heater in the winter. fing slime. stay away from them.

Like the others said, your driving in the blind without a proper ppm and ph meter; I mean really wtf?

You want to up your game then stop playing around and get Heisenburg about that shit. Record your ppm when you mix. Then when you top off with plain water to the original water height then measure PPM again. Now you know exactly how much nutrients were absorbed. Do the same with ph but let it float around. In a healthy system with appropriate amounts of res volume to plants you should be able to mix nutes with a ph of 5.6 or so then it will float up as nutrients are absorbed. It should take about 10 days to getyao 6.3 or when the ppm are about 1/2 of the original strength, it's time for a new res mix. Write all that hit down and keep it in a notebook. Then you can learn and refine and start to understand what the hell is going on .

bullshit. i go 5-9 days at times without checking. i would spend hours a week if i had to check 5-9 res's every few hours.

Yeah. Once a day or when you get bored. If your ph changes that fast your plants are in a death spiral anyways.

Agree. If your PH is varying that much then you have other issues then checking the ph. Mine will stay pretty solid unless the pots get half sucked up and I add the water add-back... then it starts to rise since they are drinking more water then nutes.

Becoming lazy in the room showed me these plants will survive a lot of shit. I check my PH every few days now. I do check on them daily just to make sure no smells or nasties are forming since I use just water and nutrients now.

They're doing just as well as when I checked the PH every day and babied them like they were going to fall apart and die with the slightest mistake.

funny how that happens. I used to be all excited come harvest time. Dude, look at that shit!! pounds and pounds of bud. Now I'm like, oh great, here comes another 3 days of no sleep and leaves and shit everywhere, and the aweful smell of bleach, and multiple runs emptying the shop vac, water all over the basement...

im with ya, except for that shop vac and water on the floor deal. my first room upgrade was a drain and water supply, now i let the pumps do the work.

Well that set up is coming. My buddy is building me the ultimate grow room underneath his new 2 story addition that he is building. Solid concrete. Concrete walls, floor, and ceiling. 24' x 24' with 8' ceiling. Air intake from the second floor of the house, exhaust out the main chimney stack, sloping floor with drain and my very own 150 Amp service panel Going to be stoked.... and I better kill it because I now owe him 25k for building it for me.
