DWC Pump Suggestions

What's goin on RIU

Right now I'm working with a 10 gallon roughneck tote that houses 3 plants. I plan on moving them to a 20 gallon tote once the roots need more room. My question is, what pump would you guys suggest I get that would provide enough air and bubbles for 3 plants? Right now I have a wimpy air pump that does 1.8 Liter per minute and it barely pushes enough air through my 12 inch air stones. I want somethin that will b able to push enough air in the 10 and 20 gallon tote.

How much did that pump cost and how many gallons is it rated for? I read it was best to get double the size of your reservoir.

something like this dude.............resource.jpgI have about $150 worth of "cheap" pumps lying around, useless. I should have got a decent one from the start. Try Ebay.

incidentally I have given up on dwc, unfortunately, due to rootrot, little red worms in the res, constantly changing ph, res temp and pump issues. I've turned to hempy buckets!

after the dwc debacle, I put three in hempy and just one in dwc. No rootrot this time but some tiny red worms!? which I eliminated very quickly, They are all going good touchwood, but next time it will be all hempy!! DWC Is great but not for me (and my hot climate) unfortunately.

That pump in the picture I the WORST fucking air pump you can buy. PERIOD. They are loud as hell, super hot, and they will wear out after about a year and you can't find replacement parts. I have three of those pumps..the BIG "commercial" ones that I'll give you for the price of shipping

THE air pump to get is a pondmaster. They sell them on eBay. They are quiet and powerful! And they don't run at 119 degrees like the el cheapo pumps do.

Il telling you man, they are the SHIT.

BTW, you don't need larger than 10 gallons unless your growing trees an I mean TREES. Like 8' tall, 6' across.

I pull 8 oz of single plants on 4 gallon buckets. 10 is fine.

Good luck

Haha I got mine blazing hot directly out of the box! That Pondmaster does look legit. I'm gonna hit up Petco tomorrow and try my luck with the Tetra Whisper for 100 gallons. At least if it doesn't do the job I can cruise down to Petco and return it instantly lol.

Just spend the money on a big pond master. $120 and your done. More air then any closet grow can handle, silent, bomber.

Or just buy three shitty $50 pumps
