This picture is when i first noticed the problem on the plant about a week back i had rockwool pieces at the bottom for support but it started right above the rockwool i had placed there i have removed all that and it now looks like the above pictures, the plant itself and roots look very healthy this is the only spot/problem i can see.IMG_0396.JPG

i'm curious: once it gets to this stage, there's no way to save it?
You could possible try to get a fan on it and create more air flow and/or give it a spritz of diluted peroxide on the infected area and hope for the best;) I personally would start over and do a super clean for spores

thanks for the reply-having to do a serious cleaning makes sense (though i had not thought of it).

OP my suggestion would be to do as @Diabolical666 suggests and start over after thoroughly cleaning your room and consider doing your first run(s) in soil (happy frog) and learn the plant first so you'll have a successful harvest.

When you get rot at the base of the trunk the plant will die or always struggle as it cant feed properly. Start again and in future watch the wet rw or pebbles aren't covering the lower plant stem.
