I use a setup alot like stinkbuds Green grow tote (without posts) using a roughneck totes and pumps and sprayers and 2" net pots. Well I was trying to figure out a really cheap way to have some plants off on the side alone in hydro. I came up with DWC using a bucket and a lid and I'll cut a hole in the top for my 2" net pots (have neoprene inserts too) and just filling the bucket up to the roots and putting a bubble stone in it.. I figure this way I don't need to waste money on any grow medium. Should work right? I don't see why not.

Yes, that would work great. You can use just about any plastic container. If you do a search on the forums for DWC, you can find alot of different DIY set-ups. I have also built several systems from the information here on RollItUp.org. One thing you might consider is to start them in the AeroTote, till the roots hits the water (cuts a few days off rooting), then put them into plain DWC containers. I have been known to use plastic coffee cans for buckets. And its more than just saving money on medium, its less bugs, less time cleaning hydroton, less trips to the Hydro store, actually a whole lot less work. Once I removed all the soil from my grow area, I was able to get rid of the bugs....Ugh!

Hehehe, But Yes, it will work GREAT! Do you plan on running a journal with pics? I would Love to follow along.
