Hi, I just got an EarthBox, and I was wondering how do I fert it? I read a thread on here that states to not put it directly into the resevoir, so how should I do it? I have FireFox Big Bloom and a Super Tea Organic Fert's. Should I mix them with water and just pour them on the top of the soil? All help is appricated!

Hey man we got an earthbox at the beggining of our current grow! :) We used organic home made soil. For the earth box when you put the soil in you MUST moisten it first!!!Also we accidently packed the dirt to tight at first so make sure it is really loose. It should be loose enough if u pick a handfull up it should fall apart very easily. So get a bowl and fill it mix it with water and repeat over and over until box is 3/4 full. Since there is that bottom grid just start the soil on that and leave a couple inches on the top. We fit two plants in ours and definitely wouldn't put more than two in one earthbox. We have had very good success with our earthbox only difference from a pot was when we transplanted they took a little longer to bounce back from stress. We LOVE our earthbox and will continue to use it in future grows. Hope this helps let us know if we can help more. We have pics too if needed. Good luck with your grow!

Hey thanks. But I was wondering about how should I add nutes to it. I heard that you shouldnt put the nutes directly into the resevoir. Is this true? & if so, how should i add them? I am doing everything organic aswell, I have a Super Tea Mix, which is a powder, and I have Fox Farm Big Bloom. Thanks!

We put our nutes in the resevor as well as on top. We just split it in half. Our babies have been thriving, but of course we dilute the mixture to one gallon of Reverse Osmosis ph balanced water. We also add one tablespoon of seltzer ph balanced to our nutes to give extra co2 to the roots. It is perfectly fine to put the nutes straight into the resevor we have never had a problem. Make sure you are getting at least 1 cup run off water that you dispose of after each nute dosage. That's awesome organic is the best way to grow! How long have you been growing with Fox Farm? They have new owners and changed the ingredients so lately for some it hasn't been giving as good of results as it used too. We are using micro, grow, and bloom from our local hydro store and than using an organic additive for flowering called Buddha Bloom by Roots Organics. Good luck, keep us posted :)

Hey thanks for the info. Well I am currently on my first grow, without an earthbox. I was thinking of doing a soilless grow for the next grow in my earthbox. Is that okay to do? I was thinking of some perlite, vermiculite, and cococoir. Do you have any suggestions about doing this? Can you do a soilless setup with an earthbox? And if I can't do a soilless setup with my earthbox, should I mix the perlite directly in with my soil, or should I just put a layer of it down at the bottom of the earthbox?

Also, can you elaborate on how to put the soil into the earthbox? I have a local organic soil that I can use.
Thanks again!
