A fire alarm triggered the discovery of a houseful of marijuana worth up to $900,000 in Eastvale, sheriff's officials say.
The fire alarm sounded about noon Saturday, Jan. 26, in a second-floor bedroom of a house along the 6500 block of Gladiola Street.
Firefighters entered through a second-floor window and discovered a large-scale indoor marijuana farming operation, prompting deputies to obtain a search warrant, Sgt. Andrew Elia said in a written statement.
At 8:30 p.m., the search warrant was served and deputies discovered the entire residence had been transformed, according to the statement. Deputies removed approximately 826 mature marijuana plants, 170 immature plants and 40 pounds of processed marijuana.
The estimated street value was over $900,000.
