EASTVALE: Fire alarm leads to $900,000 worth of pot

A fire alarm triggered the discovery of a houseful of marijuana worth up to $900,000 in Eastvale, sheriff's officials say.


The fire alarm sounded about noon Saturday, Jan. 26, in a second-floor bedroom of a house along the 6500 block of Gladiola Street.


Firefighters entered through a second-floor window and discovered a large-scale indoor marijuana farming operation, prompting deputies to obtain a search warrant, Sgt. Andrew Elia said in a written statement.


“At 8:30 p.m., the search warrant was served and deputies discovered the entire residence had been transformed,” according to the statement. “Deputies removed approximately 826 mature marijuana plants, 170 immature … plants and 40 pounds of processed marijuana.


“The estimated street value … was over $900,000.”

not bad for a 3 bedroom split level ranch house in riverside.

i can only assume the house was wall to wall dope, each plant was dropping pounds, and whatever "street" the cops get their "value" from is run by the same cats who balance the federal budget every year.

Man I thought that was common sense to remove those kind of security systems when growing then again these people had more balls than common sense anyways . Sucks for them hopefully someone learns from their mistake

Coulda been a normal alarm not monitored, no owner home, neighbor hears it and calls it in. But yeah an accidental fire is definitely a concern...
